Essays:
Should be great, probably going to be about how I stutter.

Please recommend me some other colleges that you might know of that I may have overlooked that are good at computer science, business and math.
Thanks!

For UMich, you should apply to LSA as you have not decided your major. It should be a high match to match for you considering OOS URM. However, you should also check if it is affordable to you.

You are a match for all of these schools, with Chicago being a high match/low reach. BTW U Chicago does not offer undergraduate business.

Interesting. Thanks! So does my writing score matter? I thought that it would be fine if i wrote a good essay and because of my AP score. Do Colleges see my AP scores when they’re looking at my application? Thanks in advance! Also, I will probably end up doing all 3 of my desired tracks. I’ll probably double major in some business concentration and mathematics and minor in computer science or something like that.
Really? U Penn is a match? @TomSrOfBoston

Oops, didn’t see UPenn. I’d say it is a high match/low reach, if Wharton, then a low reach.

U Mich and U penn are low reach/high matches but the rest are matches. Your EC’s might not be good enough for the top schools, but are plenty for schools like ga tech and U mich.

@iamjack Really? I thought they were pretty good. I don’t participate really well in many ECs at my high school because I’d rather get real world experience and learn to deal with real problems and hold real responsibility. High school clubs are sorta silly. Would they really penalize me for that?

@Coldsummer123 I mean they’re good, but from my personal experience people who went to top schools often won nationals level at something… or did some research, but that might just be because my school was competitive. Maybe you’ll get in – you’re EC’s are PRETTY good… that’s why I didn’t say its a reach. I think your chances are between a high match and low reach.

@iamjack Firstly, Thanks for the response! Well I am doing research this year lol. I haven’t gotten anything published and I might win a national competition but I’m not banking on it. Alright, I see what you mean. By the way do you have any recommendations for schools I should add or take away or do you think it’s a good list? Thanks again!

Well I think quite a few schools on your list so far can be called safeties. Maybe try for more schools on the level of U mich. Maybe try USC, Case Western, UC Berkeley, CMU, UCLA, etc. I think all of the schools, except case western, I’ve just listed are high matches (case western is a match).

Also, I always wanted to be a referee in soccer. I even signed up to be an AYSO soccer referee but I didn’t make it the training sessions so I couldn’t be one. :frowning: I got too lazy I guess. I wanna try it out when I’m in college. How do you like it? Also, how did you get your certification? Is it hard? I love watching soccer and used to play soccer but I’ve lost practice so I thought being a referee might be a good fit.

@iamjack Being a soccer referee is great! I get paid $40ish an hour so it’s actually incredible. I’ve met a considerable amount of people who don’t work a full-time job but just do like 10 games a weekend. The certification was very easy. Sorta tedious though, at least in New York. It’s like 5 2 hour sessions to take a test that you could pass on the first day. However, it’s a really unique and rewarding experience! It’s one of the things that helped me sorta overcome my stuttering. Some of the games are really good and even when they’re not it’s great to see everybody having fun! I was a grade 9 (The guy on the side) for 2 years before I took another 5 2 hour courses and became a grade 8(guy in the middle). This is all USSF which I’m talking about by the way. Soccer Refereeing is great and I highly recommend it to anybody who likes soccer. If you played or watched soccer before you shouldn’t have much of a problem with the certification test. However, study a little bit because it’s a pain to retake the whole course if you fail :stuck_out_tongue:

Those would all be great but I think they might be a little too expensive. I’ve heard the UCs don’t give merit aid to out-of-state. I’m kinda banking on Cornell Dyson (because it’s cheaper for in state), which by the way do you know if it’s much harder to get into? If yes, would I still have a good chance? Do you know if any of those would give some merit? Also, would you happen to know anything about programs that offer both a BA and a MA? I’ve heard of these but don’t know much about them.
Thanks again!

@Coldsummer123 oh, thanks for the info on soccer! I’ll definitely check it out… seems fun. BTW, what age group do you referee for? AYSO makes you referee 8 years (or something like that) old first which is annoying because they play without side referees and many rules so its really more of babysitting than refereeing.

Sorry, I don’t know anything about Cornell Dyson. Of the schools I’ve sent you, I know Case Western gives a TON of scholarships… (an average admit gets atleast 15k a year with the upper 25 percent getting around 25k scholarships a year).

I think a lot schools do have a combined BS and Masters 5 year program for engineering.

Here’s a quick list (but seems incomplete): http://collegelists.pbworks.com/w/page/16119353/5-Year%20BA-MBA%20Programs

@iamjack I refereed ages 13-19 as a linesman and I’m currently a center referee for ages 10-16. The older games need linesmen and it seems, at least in my town, that they have a serious shortage. Just call the right people and you’ll be golden i’m sure!
Thanks! I’ll take a look in a few.
