Chance an Asian at HYPSM

Strength: exhausting school offerings and taking dual enrollment that are truly advanced (calc III)
Weakness: EC’s; especially recently founding a gaggle of clubs so you can be the president looks very self serving.

There is nothing you can do to help at this point except if you can improve those grades. All you can do otherwise is make a thoughtful application and work on the essays. And be sure all the short answers are really good too.

Hmm. Thanks! The founding of the clubs was actually because we didn’t have many competitive STEM clubs at our school (only one: Mu Alpha Theta) and I was sort of frustrate by the lack of opportunities for our students. I realized this a bit too late, but went ahead and started the clubs anyways.

Does “Founder” make it look like I started these clubs for the sole purpose of being president? If so, should I remove “founder” from some of the clubs in my application?

This is because STUDENTS in the north east usually prefer to take the SAT, not COLLEGES. Your article does not take this into account. The majority of students take the SAT and not the ACT, but it does not disadvantage the applicant for taking one over the other.

The fact that he’s not even sending it to the schools that don’t require it just negates your point entirely. Other than MIT, they will ONLY see the 34.

Wouldn’t not telling them that I’m founder lower my chances even more?

Thanks! Any other ideas? Chances? Especially on how bad the Mid-Year report might be with B’s?
