So, this is my new threat,
I'm not sure this is enough information to chance, or I can add more to it.

*Grades
GPA:86.6
SAT:
CR- 440
Math- 530
Writing- 400
No AP test or SAT subject test ='(

*Extracurricular: only 2 or 3 clubs, volunteered at the local library, joined an orchestra outside of school
and no sports....
I got a letter from The National Society of High School Scholars, and says that I'm nominated, does this count?

Resident of New Jersey
Immigrant

*Colleges to chance
-New York Institute of Technology (NYIT)
-Rowan University
-New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT)
-Purdue University
-Rutgers University
-Penn State U
-Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT)
-Virginia Tech
-Worcester Polytechnic Institute..lol >_<

P.S. If these are not my best choice, can you suggest me some other schools that match me? but need to be at the east coast, I'm looking at majoring in mechanical engineering, environmental engineering/science, and maybe graphic arts.

Thank you for reading & chancing!

bump…please help? x(

NYIT - reach
Rowan - match
NJIT - ?
Purdue - reach
Rutgers - reach
Penn State - reach
RIT - reach
VT - reach
WPI - match

chance back I have similar stats.

where is your thread?

by the way, can you suggest any schools for me?
like safety schools and match?

Ouch.
Everything is a reach except Rowan. Try Manhattan College, or go to a community college to get your grades and stats up for a year.

this is hard, is there anyway u can take your sat again, or try act i did horrible on sat too. good luck:) though

Should I still apply to Virginia Tech?! Because the deadline is Jan.15.

and how about these colleges?
Wentworth Institute of Technology
Polytechnic Institute of NYU

My intended majors are mechanical engineering, environmental engineering/science, and maybe graphic arts.

Ok, I guaranteed I will chance back!

As far as Penn state, no to University Park, but yes to one of the may others. Maybe not Rutgers New Brunswick, but yes to the others.

You’re reaching a too high.

You’re GPA is there. It’s just your SAT scores that are holding you back.

You have less than a 50% chance to get into any of these.

Aim lower. Not low enough for CC, though. You can get into some good four year colleges, just not these.

Matches for Rowan and WPI, the others I’d say are pretty much reaches for you, but I’m not as well versed in the lesser known (or hyped) east coast schools.

I think your interesting choices for majors can only help you though My advice would be to look up a few easier colleges to apply to with strong departments for your potential majors–I’m sure they’re out there! Good luck :)

Can anyone name some colleges that are good for me to study mechanical engineering, environmental engineering/science, and maybe graphic arts?

Thanks for all the replies! ^_^

One of my friends is looking at The SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry in Syracuse, NY if you’re really into environmental science.

There are some really harsh posts above. While they may be true for some of the schools, they will not hold for all. NYIT does on-site admissions at my school; I speak from personal experience when I say that you can (and probably will) get in. I know a lot of people with far worse stats who got in just fine. For instance, there was an immigrant with an 82% average with terrible SATs (we’re talking <1000 here) who got in and was offered money. But if you could provide some explanations to the admissions officer as to why your SATs were so low, I’m sure that would help.

Hope this helps. Best of luck!

Ok, I’m going to apply NYIT, thanks ksarmand ^^
but can anyone look at #8 post?

Should I still apply to Virginia Tech?! Because the deadline is Jan.15.

Bump for more post!..

Your stats are really low for VTech. If you can afford the application fee, go ahead and reply- it does seem like a big reach, though.

Merry Christmas & Happy holiday!

Should I still apply Purdue and RIT?

Can anyone chance me on
Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI)
again??

2 people said it’s a match.
