Subjective:
Essays- good I guess...i've submitted the same essay for all my schools except for UNC-Chapel Hill (see above to see which schools I've gotten into), it was about my hearing loss and how I've come to love music in spite of a hearing loss...for the "most important ec" essays, I wrote about helping to found the debate club at school
Recommendations- ditto, except I submitted the same recommendations to all of my schools

I also have a job where I work 20-30 hours a week during the summer and 10-15 hours a week during the school year.

ahhhh crap...knew i left something out
SAT II's (submitted only to Columbia):
Math IIC 800
US History 790

I would say

Columbia: Match/slight reach
Duke: Match

Don't worry about it you have as good of a shot as anyone

Definitely not a match at Columbia/Duke.

I'd say slight reach for Columbia, low reach for Duke.

^ I agree....

The OP certainly has a good shot, but it'll be a coin flip to determine it. The odds end up near 50/50.

What's the difference between slight reach and low reach? lol

i'd say those 2 are both reaches.

Low reach would be slightly lower than slight reach (closer to match).

I don't know about Duke, but Columbia isn't a match for anyone.

(10 char) bump

don't you need SAT IIs for Columbia? Anyway, everything else looks alright so Duke and Columbia are moderate reaches. Don't worry too much, you already have great schools to choose from.

yeah...i forgot to put the SAT II's in the original post so i posted them later.

There are plenty of students who're matches at Columbia.

The OP's just not one of them.

i think the fact that you had a hearing loss and yet still are so heavily involved in music is quite impressive and unique. that definitely strengthens your app. plus, you have great sat II's. you shouldnt lose hope. best of luck!
