Thanks!
I don’t advice you to withdraw from Yale. You can beat the odds
We have almost the same qualifcations and I think that you will get a very good school. Your scores are good, your ECs are strong. I am sure you will get at least three universities of the list.
Chance me back if you want http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/discussion/comment/18027901#Comment_18027901
well, I’m not really good at chancing but here are my guesses. ( Your CR and WR are a bit low but you have a killer maths score+ ECs seem pretty nice to me)
Reaches:
Harvard
Yale
Princeton
Dartmouth.
Amherst.
Low-reaches:
Cornell
Matches:
Middlebury
Colgate
Colby
Lafaytte and Trinity are pretty match low-match/safeties but you need aid so might be a little harder. Sorry, I’m not sure about other colleges, but you seem to be a fine applicant to me.
Anyway best of luck and tell me how it works out!!
Update: I just had my first interview with Middlebury(my ED II school). It went a lot better than I expected.
@AKAKHALEDBEST
Thanks, I ended up sending my application to Yale and not sending it to Princeton. I chanced you. Best wishes.
@LevanMargvel
Here’s to hoping we both make it. Thanks!
Did you make it?
@jandkas
Accepted at Earlham with substantial aid.
Waitlisted at Grinnell, Gettysburg, Connecticut
Rejected at Midd, Trinity, Amherst, Colgate, Colby
This is pretty depressing, I’m probably going to stay in my country.
Burak, I’m sorry. However, Earlham is an amazing college. If you join the CLass of 2019 facebook page, you’ll realize the kids attending are really great. It’s also a college known for nurturing future PHDs so if you want research to be in your future, it’d be a great pick.
NO one’s ever ready for how brutal the competition is for internationals who need financial aid. :s It must be heart-breaking right now for you.
How about LeMoyne? (Still, Earlham is MUCH better). And of course some decisions are still pending.
@MYOS1634 Thanks for your sympathy.
Le Moyne reveals decisions on a rolling basis, so I haven’t heard from them yet. I still have a glimmer of hope for Harvard, Yale, and Dartmouth because and I had an alumni recommendation, a great interview and a great supplemental application, respectively, and because they are all need blind.
If I don’t get acceptances from those three, I’ll be staying in Turkey for at least the next four years. Earlham’s net cost of attendance (14000 $) and the ever increasing value of the dollar and the make it more affordable to stay and attend the best (internationally ranked) private universities here, even if I don’t get any scholarships.
We aid seeking internationals are indeed fighting an upward battle. We are competing against the best and brightest of the world so it shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone when he/she gets rejected to make room for smarter and more accomplished applicants.
It’s not the end of the world and I’ll be trying again for graduate school, because I’d rather die than give up on the American dream. Hopefully, that will be a much easier game since I’ll be planning my application from the beginning and going through undergrad accordingly.
