Frank Chancing is greatly appreciated !! Thank you in advance!.

@LevanMargvel‌ It’s shocking how similar our applications are.We are both White, middle class, male internationals from countries bordering the Black Sea who need financial aid.We are also both 2 year class presidents, club founders and involved in biomedical research. We have 9 colleges in common. Your SATs are a bit higher, while my subject tests are a bit higher. By the way, your CR and W scores are great. Are you a native speaker of English?

Anyway, I’ll divide the colleges into tiers.

Reaches:
Stanford
Yale
Chicago

I don’t think these are out of the realm of possibility. As many CCers will say, you can’t call these places “matches” or “safe” unless you are a 4.0 2400 URM varsity captain who started a million dollar company. Keep in mind that not all international applicantions are created equally. There are far less qualified applicants from our countries than there are from India, China or Korea, so at least we have that going for us.

Somewhat lower reaches:
Williams
Amherst
Brown
Pomona

I remember reading that Amherst only accepted 7 internationals ED in a post from 2010. They accepted 115 internationals overall last year, so there is still hope. The other 3 schools are need aware, that doesn’t really help. Luckily, they have lower admissions standards than the high reaches

Matches:
Bowdoin
Wesleyan
Middlebury
Colgate
Vassar
Hamilton
Colby
Northeastern-not sure about their scholarships though.

Low matches-Safeties:
The rest.

With that said, being an international who needs aid distorts these tiers a bit. If a school is financially well off this year, a match may become a safety or vice versa. In any case, you are a qualified applicant and I’m sure you’ll get in somewhere. Just saying, if we happen to get into the same college, we should totally be roommates.

Care to chance me back?

Skidmore + Trinity will accept you for sure.
You have pretty good chances. Can you tell me what is your intended major of study. That will change the whole perspective? We have almost the same qualification  But I am applying for Engineering schools

Thank you !! I just chanced you back!! Haha we could totally be roommates, just tell me how it works out for you!! Best of luck

AKAKHALEDBEST I am intentending to study Psychology/Sociology or even pre-law. I'm not very sure about it to say the least. i will chance you back!

@LevanMargvel‌ I checked with one of my friends who got into Pomona. Compared to him, I think you will also get Pomona (High Match). Uchicago is a reach. Stanford is not a Dream. You have some good chances

You have no safety, but your Olympiad records are very impressive:
Amherst College-reach
Bowdoin College-reach
Brown University-reach
Middlebury College-low reach, high match
Northeastern University-low reach due toFA
Pomona College-reach
Stanford University-reach
University of Chicago-reach
Vassar College-reach
Williams College-reach
Yale University-reach

You should have applied for schools that offer generous merit scholarships like U of Alabama, Howard U, UAH, etc.

Good luck

UPDATE: just received a mail from Lafayette College which says I’m Marquis Awards finalist ( that’s nearly admission decision right?)

If you’re a finalist for their prestigious scholarship, yes that means you’re admitted, but admission without money is almost worthless for an international who needs help. Well, it does make you feel good to get that admission packet!

  • who needs money (!! sorry!! )

@MYOS1634 wow, I’m happy  and their FAQ even says they can give additional need-based scholarship if the received scholarship is not enough for the need I demonstrated  Do you have anything to say about my chances at other colleges ?
