chance at Early Decision next year?

I just finished my junior year at an international school in Tokyo and Tufts is my first choice. I want an honest opinion from you guys about my shot at ED.

GPA: 3.49 (weighted) (I know this is really low, but my grades have been improving in an upward trend. freshman: 3.02, sophomore: 3.55, junior: 3.86. I had a really rough Freshman year)

AP Classes this year (at my school you can only take them starting Junior year): US History, English Language and Composition, Macroeconomics. I also self-studied for Microecnomics and Japanese.
Next year I'm taking: European History, Environmental Science, Statistics, and French.

ACT Composite Score: 34
(English: 32, Math: 34, Reading: 33, Science: 35, Combined English/Writing: 29)

Extracurriculars:
-varsity swim team all 3 years so far and captain this year
-club called abot kamay all 3 years where i went to Thailand for a service trip
-community service with an organization called Hands on Tokyo
-worked for the past 2 summers as a camp counselor at a summer camp hosted by my school

Oh and my dad went to Tufts, but he hasn't donated money/isn't a notable alumni. I know it won't help at all, but I thought I'd just throw that out there.

So lay it on me guys, do I have a shot?

^Actually being a legacy is a help. Not as much of a help as having a parent who can donate a building, but it is considered.

I don’t do chances, but it seems to me you have good enough stats to consider applying.

Wow your statistics are really similar to mine: low gpa, high test scores. Anyway, I feel like you actually stand a pretty strong chance, for a couple reasons.

A) You’re a legacy
B) You’re applying Early Decision and Tufts notoriously loses many students to slightly more prestigious schools like Brown and UPenn in regular admission time so they accept a third of their class from early decision
C) You’re international; Tufts is all about internationalism
D) You’re APs are phenomenal

If I don’t get into Wash U in St. Louis Early Decision I’m going to apply to Tufts Early Decision II as it is my solid number 2 choice.

How did you do on the AP exams you took this year?
I noticed the AP Stats senior year, but have you taken calculus? If not, i would recommend it.
I think you’ll have a very solid shot.
Good luck!
