Planning on doing Independent Science Research Project in Junior Tear.

Will probably get excellent recommendation from Guidance next year.

I know it might be a little early asking for chances, but overall, what do you think?

Good chances, don't take AP Env, it's a joke. Take AP Biology and AP Chemistry at the same time.

"Planning on doing Independent Science Research Project in Junior Tear."
Make sure you do ISEF with this. If you win 1st place, you're most likely into Caltech/MIT (if your grades/test scores are good).

Also, you need community service. Easy way to do this is to volunteer at a hospital. If you do 8 hours/month, you will easily have over 100 by the time you apply.

I disagree with Castel. I'm taking AP Envi and AP bio concurrently and I think that it's really the best way to go because they reinfornce one another.

Also, even though APES is considered by many to be a joke, I think that people should definitely learn about our environment... plus it's an easy class that looks good on a transcript.

chem=death... don't stress yourself out too much junior year. Save chem for senior year when grades don't matter as much

i agree lol

lol, btw when I say research projetc, I meant wokring with a univeristy mentor on my own project so I guess it is independent.

Looking thru all the stats of people who got in, I feel like I have a 1% chance of getting in.

Of course, when I become pres of my clubs imma try to do unique things like hold special club-related events and do spectacular things about astronomy like inviting renowned college professors to come to my high school and give lectures or create and host an annual astronomy awareness day, etc.

watever it takes to get into MIT ;)
(not that its the only reason, I'll do them because I'd like to also)

sorry about my bad grammar, i have good grammar, its just that my typing ability on the keyboard sucks and i rush through typing so i have alot of mistakes. I am actually a very good writer when i'm focused, lol

ALSO

will it help that I'm a first generation immigrant and that I'll be the 1st person in my family to attend college of any kind?

my grammar sux too its the INTERNET comeon =]

and yes

lol thats great but the bummer is, I'm asian male

2 big no-no's sigh

I also enter poetry/essay contests year-round (though soem are not presitigous, just regional) and won some awards or were finalists here and there, are these significant?

yes, since that's so not stereotypically asian ^_^

lol, i know, besides thats what philosophy club is for (not that its the only reason, i do love philosphy) lol :)
