Chance be please! I promise i will chance you back ;)

Hey guys, so I am a Junior and Im gonna start applying for colleges next fall. I would like you to chance me for all Ivy leagues, especially Wharton ED (my dream school) and Harvard. I would also like you to chance me for Stanford and UVA, UC Berkley. I want to major in economics at the Ivy’s, and business at Wharton. I am from Central America and I attend one of the best schools of the nation. I will list the scores I have gotten so far, and the ones I expect to get.

SAT I:
- First try: 1890 (M:620, R: 610, W:660)
- Second try: 2150 (M: 770, R: 680, W: 700)
I know my first time sucks, but I was really nervous. Will that affect my application? Also, such a high score like the one I got in the second time I pretty rare at my school. Kids with 2200 have gotten accepted to Princeton. Last year, a kid with 2190 was accepted to UPenn RD, and this year a kid with 2130 was accepted to Brown ED. Should I retake the SAT? I know that perhaps I could raise my score to 2250, with R: 730, W: 750.

SAT II: Bio M- 750. Math I: 750 (Anticipated), Math II: 800 (anticipated), Spanish: 800.

ACT; don’t plan on taking.

GPA: 96.7 weighted

Rank: 3 of 120

AP (score in parenthesis): AP Bio (5). Anticipated: AP English Language (4-5), AP Calc AB (5), AP Spanish Language (5), AP Macroeconomics (5), AP Microeconomics (5), AP Calculus BC (5), AP Physics C (5), AP Spanish Literature (5), AP Statistics (4-5). AP English Literature (4-5).

Summer Courses: Im going to Harvard Secondary School Program to take “Introduction to Capital Markets and Investments”, and “Money, Financial Institutions, and Markets”. I plan getting A+ at these courses. I also plan on getting recommendation letters from my teachers.

Im gonna work at one of the most important banks in my country. I plan on getting an amazing recommendation letter from the Bank’s President.

Awards: I have won the Presidental Award for scholarship, and dozens of academic awards.

Councelor Reccomendation: Very good, best in career.

Ethnicity: Hispanic

I would appreciate any comments and thoughts. Thank you very much

Chance me pleasee i promise i will chance backkkk!! :):):)

With all due respect, you’ll get in quite easily to Stanford and Berkeley because of Affirmative action. Your academic stats are nothing great; however, your EC’s are quire good.
I think you won’t have much trouble getting into Berkeley or Stanford. However, Harvard is a bit of a reach.

Oh and go ahead and retake it… trust me… keep taking the SAT until your goal is attained; contrary to popular belief, it won’t affect you too much.

I wouldn’t be so sure about Stanford. I am a URM w/ good ECs, a 2360, etc and was waitlisted. Admissions is arbitrary, but you’re as good a candidate for these schools if you get your SAT a little higher. Apply to as many elite schools as possible and hope and pray you get into 1 or 2.

@howmanyofme Berkeley doesn’t even use AA. None of the UCs do, as the state outlawed it awhile back.

Stanford does use AA, but being Hispanic won’t be as much of a boost as black or Native American, because there are so many qualified Hispanics applying these days, especially in California, since it’s bordering Mexico.

Being an international applicant, even a Hispanic one, will hurt you more than it will help. Your stats are great, but you definitely cannot be sure of a top university. While it is great that you have identified some schools you love, make sure you find some safeties that you also love. What is your price range? Are you going to need financial aid? If so, make sure you apply to some schools where you have a good chance of getting full rides.

I wish you the best and I hope Penn ED works out!

First, your 1st time SAT is NOT that bad…I got 1850 on my 1st one and I was accepted at PENN. So stop worrying
Funny thing I ALSO took the SSP last summer(Principle of Micro). I’m not sure if they have A+…95 or below is an A-(which totally doesn’t make any sense…), but it’s not hard to get an A if you work hard.
I’d say you have a decent shot at the IVY schools with your scores/aps/ecs. Make sure your essays are great!

@princess143 thanks for your feedback! did you think that the SSP was worth it? do you think it helped in the college applications?

thank you all for your comments! continue posting please! :)

Your EC are incredible. Im actually really surprised that you got to do something for a company that would help your country. And yea, take SAT’s however many times as you want because you can use affirmative action. You have a really good shot at Stanford and any other school you apply to.

I recommend taking subject tests so that it shows that you are a competent student, just like every other student the colleges accept in America.

“take the SAT’s however many times as you want because you can use affirmative action”

wait, what? Are you referring to score choice?
