This is my first post ever on this site so please be nice I have just finished grade 10 and I am excited for summer. Ever since I was 13 I have always strived to go to Stanford or Harvard someday. Although I know thatthese are the hardest schools get into, I feel that if I work hard that I can achieve it. Can Stanford students perhaps state my chance so far and what I could do.

GPA over all: 95/100, top 5% (not sure what that would be in GPA (Canada doesn't do that)

SAT scores: haven't taken ANY!!!! I'm going to study a little this summer and maybe take them in grade 11

Volunteering: Peer tutor, habitat for humanity, retirement home, big brother big sister program

Leadership: Not that many I'm going to be a VIP next year (a program in my school that helps the grade nine students and new students, almost like a prefect)

AP's: In my school you can't take AP exams until grade 12. In grade 9-11 you take a Pre-Ap course (almost like honour classes). Well anyway, right now I'm taking Pre-AP physics, Pre-AP Functions, Pre-AP Chemistry, Pre-AP biology, Pre-AP English, and Pre-AP french

EC's: Arts council, World History Club, Writers Guild, Debate team, Cross Country, Track and Field, School plays. I migh consider joining math or science club next year. I have played the Piano for 9 years (I am in grade 9)

Summer Activities: Summer of grade nine- Worked at a pharmacy. This summer- this new french program in Quebec where you take courses in French. Only 45 people are chosen in the Canada (so exited!!)

I am a first generation Nigerian immigrant. I immigrated to Canada when I was three. I got to a really good public school (they send maybe 2 or 3 students to Ivy league schools, or schools of similar caliber like Stanford, MIT or Berkely) and of course a lot of students go to very good Canadian universities

I am also almost finished writing a novel that I have been working really hard on.I really love to write stories. If all goes well I want to get it published.

Few concerns: Will my lack of AP's before grade 12 hurt me heavily? I am thinking of taking the AP US History Exam next year by self studying (we have the course American history not just in AP) and maybe Literature.

Well any way, as a Canadian, do you think I have a chance at Stanford. I am also considering applying to Stanford, Coumbia, Princeton and Yale.

Also is it true that Stanford doesn't give financial aid to Canadians?
