This is what gives “chance me” threads such a bad reputation.

While I agree that what lovebc wrote in the opening post looks strong, read through decision threads from past years to see many disappointed applicants who were told in chance-me threads that they were a shoo-in.

agree with jpm. Legacy can be a plus factor, but thats about it.

What is class rank?

What are your passions? (A very long list of participations, but besides Girls Scouts, none have longevity.)

What would you bring to BC? Does that come thru on your essays? If not…

yeah I definitely agree w y’all on that. my school doesn’t rank, and I moved across the country for 8th grade so tht kinda messed me up with the longevity of my activities I guess. I wrote my supplemental essay about my Christmas project and how I expanded it and I’m super involved with that.
I think it comes through w CommonApp essay but idk what they’ll think; basically I wrote about a medical condition and talked about what I learned from it (incorporated into my work ethic and habits).
I know my SAT score was average for 2021 class RD, but considering the accepted EA av. SAT last year was 1425 and this yr it’s 1454, I’m expecting their new average to be around 1400 for RD…

I was waitlisted btw

rejected

@lovebc sorry. Did you just find out? :frowning:

So sorry if it was your first choice. Where are you going. I bet it is a great school.

I’m sorry to hear you were rejected! You are clearly a great student and person who cares about a lot. Don’t let a decision define your worth, it’s mostly chance. Take some time to do some small things you love-- play with your pets, take a bath, listen to some music, and think about the people in your life and the wonderful things you have done. I hate what the college admissions process does to students. They make kids fall in love with these places, force kids to work so hard for so long (to the point where nobody even knows what they are working for). So I urge you to take a moment and reflect on how far you have come and be proud of how much you put into the process. You will be a great student anywhere and will find your place. Best of luck to you.

thank you so much :slight_smile: I actually found out about a month ago but completely forgot to post on here til now. I’m going to the University of Texas at Austin now (I honestly hated the school but my dad didn’t have a job at the time so it seemed like the best fit financially). The whole waitlist process was terrible but I honestly learned so much from it, and I was already okay with rejection by the time I got the email. Just got my IB Diploma, am now being paid to advertise apparel, and have a job now, so, I feel like I have definitely grown a lot. I still want to go to college on the northeast (obviously I’ll see how 1st semester goes) but I might apply as transfer to BC or VillaNova (never applied) or another regional school, but we’ll see! @justahuman @privatebanker @BCBoundMaybe

Congrats. UT is a heck of a school. Top ten public uni great. And what an atmosphere. You just might fall in love. Best when it happens that way anyway.

@privatebanker yeah!!!
