Chance for Deerfield!!

@MBV to start with idc about grammar this is a forum not an application essay. I am using info that i got directly from coaches. The range isnt 85-91… i dont know where u got that from. The emails said benchmark is an 85. I also know a board of trustee at Deerfield and talked to him about this. He says if you are under an 85, your chances are very very low. I have first hand info. You go to LV so you should stop giving advice to ppl applying to deerfield. When I get info from coaches, aos, and bots you gotta shut up and stop trying to insult someone with helpful info. Stick to advice on your school…

I disagree with you Ambid. Do you honestly believe that Andover picks its desired applicants without looking at their SSAT score and end up with such a high average. Even if it is the last thing they look at I feel that it is obvious the SSAT have a big input on who they accept. It could be argued that schools tell the applicants that the
SSAT is the “last” thing they look at so they get a lower acceptance rate. This would make the school look more prestiguous and it is obvious the benefits that has.

wavyboy, I agree, but while having a score below 80% might hurt, it doesn’t “basically put you out of consideration.”

@baseball: to have a 88 average (which I believe Deerfield does) and a benchmark of 85, generally, the accepted students should be in the 85-91 range. Come on, I’m sure the math is not that hard to digest. Scores above the range will skew the average to the right and it will no longer be a 88.

Just because I go to Lawrenceville, I shouldn’t be altruistic and help people applying to other schools? This is Prep School Admissions, not an exclusive Lawrenceville forum. My username doesn’t even go by the school’s name so being a Lawrenceville advocate isn’t my sole reason for being here.

I’m not insulting you. You’re probably feeling stupid and insulted for a reason other than me.

@MBV i am not feeling “stupid and insulted”. I just get very aggravated by people like you who think they know everything. If I have direct contact info and I am stating information given to me from aos you need to respect that. You shouldn’t be denying what I say, especially when you don’t attend the school. Your useless posts to a school you have no connection with will not help future applicants to Deerfield. ON the other hand, my contact with aos and coaches at the school who directly told me that will help applicants in the future and give them an aim for their score. I am not saying that if you are under that you have no chance, this is just info I am getting directly from the school…so you need to stop and listen to someone else for once rather than thinking you are always correct.

u too bro

You’re basically saying that people under 85% shouldn’t even bother applying to Deerfield, unless they are D1 athletes/have donated mills to the school. I see it could be helpful for the school and potential applicants.

I don’t know about direct info and wouldn’t take it as set in stone unless the info comes directly from the AOs (who actually decide who gets in). Sometimes, you need to weigh the sources and not just take everything word by word. Sometimes, you need to think critically and for yourself.

Maybe you don’t have the ability to do it yet, but that’s okay, since it’s one of the things you’ll learn at BS! Good luck, man. Good luck.

@MBV one of the coaches is an ao…im not saying under 85 shuldnt apply, but ur chances are very very slim. Exactly what i mean by you wont listen to others. the ao told me tht so…

I have a friend who is a tennis player like you, @matthewstein86. She’s ranked as well, and has been a on huge winning streak; I believe she applied to Deerfield as well. However, since she’s very secretive and reserved, I can’t base any conclusions on evidence. Sorry. But I can wish you good luck! :)

Yeah, If the coach really wants you, you’ll get in. I know someone who got into Andover with a 70% SSAT because he was a hockey recruit.
