Thank you to whoever takes the time to read it. Chances and advice will surely help. 'Preciate it and God Bless!

What kind of engineering would you like to study in college?

If I were in your shoes and interested in engineering, I’d probably be looking more seriously at a few other schools (MIT, Cal Tech, etc.).

Having a sibling who attended Harvard should give you an advantage on your app. I’m sure you’re very proud of Samyr.

Other things you have going for you include your ethnicity and your parents’ background.

You should consider applying. You never know what may happen.

Good luck.

First off, undergraduate students do not apply to the Harvard School Of Engineering. You apply for admission as a liberal arts student to Harvard, and indicate on the supplement that you have an interest in Engineering. See: [Apply to SEAS ? Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Sciences](Prospective Students | Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences)

“All prospective undergraduate students apply and are admitted to Harvard College. Students do not need to declare their intended concentration until the sophomore year.”

Secondly, an 1860 SAT is really not competitive for Harvard, but you know that. Your SAT score needs to be at least 200 points higher to fall within Harvard’s mid-range. See Page 9 of Harvard Common Data Set: http://www.provost.harvard.edu/institutional_research/CDS_2011-2012_Final.pdf:

25th Percentile 2090 (CR: 690, M: 700, W: 690)
75th Percentile 2380 (CR: 790, M: 800, W: 790)

Even though you are a sibling, you will be judged on your academic merit. Best of luck to you in the next 4 months.

Yup and thanks for respecting the fact that I know that, you’d be suprised the condescending tone I receive haha. I had to put something though. I assumed you applied to an engineering school for the schools I was applying to. And yes we are very proud of Samyr :)

I want to do chemical engineering but Harvard doesnt havr it so I’d do mateeial science engineering there

I’d appreciate more advice/opinions

Sure, apply to harvard. Perhaps take another shot at the SAT. And consider other science or engineering schools. The chances of getting into Harvard are slim for everyone. Apply there and just cross your fingers.

Yea, I’m not really stressing over getting in, because of my interest in engineering. And I will definitely take the SATs again

more advice/opinions?
