Korean American, Dad lives in korea, Leaving my mom and 3 kids including me. Income is shared with uncle's family giving about 35,000 for us each year.
Also Epidemiology Scholar Winner (YES foundation)

Your record looks quite strong.

If your family income is $35,000 a year, then you shouldn’t have UCLA and Berkeley on your list. Since you’d be out of state, cost to attend will be $50k a year, with little financial aid.

What safeties are you considering?

I am considering UT Austin, and American University. Do u think i have a decent chance at the other schools i listed?

bump…

Personally, I feel all the remaining schools on your list are reaches of some degree. Good ACT score but top 13% will not make you very competitive at Stanford and Columbia. Georgetown is unpredictable What was your uw GPA because it doesn’t appear you took the most rigorous course load? Have you taken any SAT II’s or AP tests? Do you have any financial safety schools, besides UTAustin because UT might be a match more than a safety?

ive taken 9 AP classes so far…

You should really look into Rice, they’re tuition is still relatively low compared to other top universities (although slowly it’s increasing) and do give out a number of merit and need-based scholarships.

As long as you apply to the safeties, go ahead and good luck. For American, I believe you could also get into their honors program. They offer merit money to their top 15% of applicants.

SAT is great.

GPA is not. However, these top schools won’t look at a single GPA stat… they’ll look at GPA for Freshman, Sophomore, Junior years and see that you’re really a 4.2+ student CURRENTLY.

I say apply to all the schools you listed, but understand you might not get into any… or you might get into 3-4 of them. It really requires that the adcom reading your file focuses on your current performance, and does not penalize you for a weak freshman year. You should consider addressing your freshman year weakness, what you realized or learned, and how you think differently now, as one of the paragraphs in your essay.
