Chance in Hades?

I come from a small school. The grad class last year was 100 students. This year it's <120. We only offer (girls) basketball, dance, cheer, volleyball, soccer, and softball. I played softball for two years but was cut from Varsity last year for being unable to play senior year due to busing to another school for two AP classes. I have other athletic interests but have never been able to try them out because of where I live and my lack of transportation. My school only offers Spanish club, Environmental Activist club, and NHS. I am in NHS (3rd year) and just ran for VP, but they told me I wasn't assertive enough and gave it to another girl who is lazy and on par with my "assertiveness," and is much busier than I am this year--also, more disappointing, is they gave Pres to a girl who is only in NHS because of the name recognition and she is actually very stupid; they gave her it over someone who is a very good leader type, but is too busy this year. Is there any sense in that? No.

Anyhoo, I was in Reading Club for two years but the teacher was fired and no other teachers stepped up to take on the club. Therefore, it is no longer. I also did 1.5 years of YABA bowling, but I have no interest in bowling so it's stupid to include. We do not have a newspaper or lit mag otherwise I would have been editor (I love writing and I have submitted short stories to magazines). We have a yearbook class, but because of scheduling, I could never take it. I have 53 hours of community service for tutoring and other NHS inspired activities. I'll have more by end of year.

My school doesn't offer any honors or advanced classes. All AP classes offered to us are at another school for the last two hours of the day. We can only take AP in junior or senior year at my school, and because of scheduling, I couldn't take any last year. This year I have AP English Lit and AP US History. This is also the first year they were doing morning AP hours, and I signed up for all five available (BIO, EngLit, USHist, EUHist, Psyche) but they canceled two and I couldn't go for just the one hour, so I was left with the two afternoon ones.

I originally planned to take Physics this year and World History, but not enough people signed up and our arse of a principal canceled those classes. Can you believe that BS? I hate my school.

Here's the list of my high school classes:

Freshman: Civics/Econ, Special Humanities, Biology, Integrated Math 1, Gym/Swim/Health, Intro Art, and Spanish 1 & 2
Sophomore: Special World Lit, Earth and Physical Science, Computers, US History, Psychology (took it one year below requisite grade level), Chemistry, and Int. Math 2.
Junior: Spanish 3 & 4, Int. Math 3, English Lit (taken one year below requisite senior level), Creative Writing, Peer Mentoring, American Lit/World Studies block class.
Senior: Spanish 5 & 6, Directed Study: Bio/Physics (making up for lack of advanced science classes), Pre-Calculus, Environmental Geology (needed a real fourth credit of science--this teacher is environmentally obsessed, hence this type of class), Directed Study: World History (making up for cancellation of the real class), AP English Lit, AP US History.

I have had the same job at a movie theater since March of 2004 and once I am 18, I can try to get a projectionist promotion. I work both weekend days unless they don't schedule me.

GPA is 4.011, but it's based on a scale of A+ = 4.25, A = 4, A- = 3.75, and B+ = 3.25 and so on. ACT is 27 but I am retaking it for the Oct. test date. SAT Subject Tests scheduled for Nov. test date. I probably sound like a Not At All case, but do I have a shot? I really really really want NU. Want to go into film program, and I think NU would give me the best prep. Should I do ED, or do I have a shot for RD?

Also, what about Cornell, UMich, UChicago, or any other suggestions you have? Have to be ones with 100% Financial Aid Need Met, though. Thanks.

Are you interested in Film/Cinema Studies or Film Productions/Cinematography?

Also, what state do you live in (for in-state tuition/geographical diversity).

I would prefer Film/Cinema Studies because it would get me into the technical aspects of film, as well as the theoretical so that I could also write as a critic if I don't "head off to Hollywood."

I'm a Michigan resident. I know of Grand Valley having a program, but that's my last resort because I would like a college where I'll get lots of options, and NU can give me that. I didn't get hardly any opportunities in high school, and I want to change that in college.

What?! No track team at your school?!

gasp
