Chance me at Harvard? Right now I'm a junior, but I received a 2400 on the SAT, an 800 on both the SAT II Math and WH exams, and a 34 on the ACT. I will hopefully have a 3.8 next year when I apply to colleges; I had a 3.5 freshman year, and a 3.8 sophomore year, but I will hopefully have a 4.0 at the end of this year- then I'll hopefully get all A's senior year. I will have taken 7 AP classes and the rest honors classes (AP WH, AP Gov, AP English, AP English Part 2, AP Bio, AP Spanish, AP Calc)... I had a low GPA freshman and sophomore year because of ADD and bullying. I do not wish to share the name of the site, but I created a successful website for teens being bullied. I have 2000+ community service hours- I volunteer at a soup kitchen and a nursing home. I have won poetry competitions and Bronze, Silver, and Gold National Spanish exam awards, along with a community service award. I am an assistant front end manager at a grocery store, and a captain of mock trial, literary club, and environmental club. I know I'll have stellar recommendations and a great admissions essay (maybe about my experience with bullying and the website I created). Basically, my question is, will I have a chance at Harvard? I know that less than 7% of applicants are accepted, and probably 90% of applicants have perfect stats. I'll have a much better chance at getting into Cornell (plus my uncle went there, I know I'm not a legacy but it's another tie). I've dreamt of Harvard though, like every other American. Based on my ethnicity, SAT scores, and EC's, ADD and story, I'd say I have a fair chance, right? I go to the #1 public school in my state. Many students from my school have been accepted into Harvard in the past, but I know that doesn't mean anything.

With those stats and URM status, you should be invincible. Still, make sure you present a focused representation of yourself.

Harvard - match to high match.
YPSM - matches

Thank you!!:)

Interesting that you were heading into your sophomore year back in August 2012 (http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1385761-did-i-ruin-my-chances-going-dartmouth.html#post14798594), but now less than 5 months later you are in the middle of your junior year and have become a certified URM, and won all sorts of Spanish exam awards.

Quite an accelerated track you are on. Are you graduating early?

Your resume is pretty impressive. You are a very strong applicant for any school, including Harvard, as long as you present yourself well in your application. I think you should reach high if that is your dream since you have the stats to back it up. Your URM status will definitely help too, esp. as a Native American.

I think your expectations are pretty realistic. I think you have a good chance of getting in, but you never know with H (and YPSMC/other top schools). Make sure you have a few match/safety schools that you would be happy to attend as well. Best of luck!

You are a Native American with a 2400. You’re in anywhere.

stemit, hmm I probably should have checked her post history. I guess some things really are too good to be true, lol.

Kudos to you and your investigation. my sister and I share this account- she is a sophomore, I am a junior.

With remarkably similar stories and writing styles - except your sister forgot to mention her URM status.

indeed. go away.

Yes, because she on the other hand isn’t certified. Ok officer? You’re getting on my nerves And what are the similarities between our writing styles? Lol…

Your chances at Harvard are extremely high. Of all of the URM’s, being Native American helps the most. Selective colleges are desperately trying to find bright Native American students, or so I have read. And, of course, your stats are fantastic! I do agree with the others above that you should apply to several schools, since the Ivies and the ultra-selective LAC’s (eg Williams, Amherst, Pomona, Carleton) are always a crapshoot. You might consider applying to 3 Ivies, 3 selective LAC’s, 2 mid-range colleges (ie not super selective, but not safeties), and 1 safety. Be sure that they are all schools that you would be happy to attend. However, your chances for admission at Harvard are likely very high!

Your SAT score and your ethnicity makes you a shoo in.

Have a nice day

You will definitely get in! Your Native American heritage definitely helps you a lot. I’m so happy for you and congrats!

LOL at the person trying to start something up there ^ Shake my head…

This is the one kind of file that is NOT a reach for Harvard that I read… someone that isn’t be a Native American with that file would be a reach.

You’re in. I’d be incredibly surprised if you even got waitlisted instead of accepted

Have fun in Cambridge!

This thread screams ■■■■■ to me.

You’ll definitely get in! I wish you the best of luck girl!!! BUT regarding your admissions essay- use sentimentality sparingly. They don’t like sob stories. You know what? Here’s a link that should help:
