Chance me- 3rd time applying to UMICH

This will be my third time applying to LS&A. I applied my senior year of high school, was deferred then denied. I applied as a transfer, was denied but only because of not having enough completed credits…

-I will be applying with 40 completed credits with 12 in the works, for a total of 52. 8 of those were taken at community college over the summer and 8 are AP credit.

-I have a 3.68 GPA, I applied with a 3.5, I had an upward trend in grades.

-In HS I had a 3.6 and a 1170 on the SAT, but was heavily involved in extra-circulars

-I had a HS Psych teacher, College English professor, my boss, my uncle who is an alumni and my HS counselor write me LOR.

-I am in state, I go to MSU.

-I have a job at a development lab here on campus while also being involved in the pre-medical club

I am really not caring as much this time around, I feel my chances are fairly high given I did try again after being denied twice.

You know what they say “Third times a charm”…

You seem to be doing so well at State. That’s great. What can anyone say… Apply without expectations.

I think you know about Transfer Tuesday’s but let someone look at your transcripts and current classes to make sure it all comes over. You can just email admissions for transfer students also.

Good Luck

The problem with transferring is that you lose credits in the process. Transferring will add a year or more to your degree, and financial aid has limits. You’re doing great at MSU.

yeah. I have 52 transferable credits. and based off of my family’s income, qualify for the go blue guarantee.

Honestly, what’s wrong with MSU? Looks like you’re doing great there and I’m sure you’ve made some friends that you would miss, if you left. You even say you’re not caring as much this time around.

right exactly, because last time I applied, I got my hopes real up and was devastated when I got denied. msu is not a far drive from umich. I drive it frequently… I just think I have better opportunities at u of m.

What types of opportunities are better in your mind?

Students that take advantage of the resources at their college will have the opportunities. Trust me on this. As you reapply look for the opportunities that are already present at State. You might be surprised at what you find.

So you do care about this time, applying to UMich, but it’s a coping mechanism just in case you’re denied again. OK, I understand. No worries.

I have no idea how to chance a potential transfer student, but what I do like is your tenacity and resilience. Two qualities tGood luck!hat will help you all your life. I hope you make it this time. Best of luck and please do check back in and let us know how you did.

more research. I plan to attend medical school, I really want to get involved in the hospital. MSU lacks in that aspect

yes exactly! I am just trying not to put all of my eggs into one basket like I did last year! thank you  I will!
