I was wondering if anyone would spare their time to give me chances for admission to the following schools:
Cornell University (Early Decision)
Boston College
Bates
University of Chicago
Villanova
Trinity College
University of Washington (safety)

I want to study Economics. I am a Caucasian male from the west coast (who attends a boarding school) and Cornell is my first choice school. I'm planning on applying Early Decision in the fall. My GPA is low but it has a good trend. It was around a 3.8 freshman year, a 3.6 sophomore year and a 4.0 junior year. As you can tell sophomore was a difficult year for me, it was my first year at boarding school. Junior year I really challenged myself and I took 4 AP/IB classes (my school combines them): AP/IB US History, AP/IB English, IB SL Physics, IB ITGS. In addition I took TOK (Theory of Knowledge) and Chinese 1. I'm taking Chinese 2 over the summer to meet Cornell's language requirement. I know that I can get good recommendations from this year, a lot of my teachers really liked me. My counselor also seems to like me a lot. Given the following stats would it be worth applying ED to Cornell or is it a waste?

Take the SAT! Your ACT score is pretty good.

BC- in

Your EC’s are amazing. Keep those up.

Your GPA is the only thing that might kill you. I suggest writing your college essay about your experience at boarding school and give a rationale for your lower GPA in your essay- they like to see triumph in the face of adversity.

I’m not familiar with Bates/Villanova/Trinity, but the rest of your schools besides BC and UW are high reaches. Cornell is a crapshoot for everyone, but you’re more likely to get in by ED, and my brother was val with a 4.0 UW and was waitlisted by U Chicago.

You need to bring up your gpa and ACT for UofC, and I would advise taking a Sat2s if you are capable of that. You look like you would be waitlisted at UofC.
Sorry but I dont know much about COrnell.

Cornell University (Early Decision)-good possibility
Boston College-50/50
Bates-??
University of Chicago- in probably
Villanova- in
Trinity College-??
University of Washington (safety)-for sure

Thanks for the chances everyone. And in response to a few suggestions: I have taken the SAT, but I did terribly compared to my ACT (I only scored a 1900 v. a 32 on the ACT). I’m also going to be removing the U of Chicago from my list. I didn’t think it would be as difficult to get into as a lot of people say and I really wouldn’t be that thrilled if I went there anyway (I’m not a fan of the atmosphere).

Cornell University (Early Decision)- Good chance, especially ED
Boston College- Low reach
Bates- not sure
University of Chicago- Reach
Villanova- Slight reach
Trinity College- Match
University of Washington (safety)- In
