Chance me at Amherst'23 ED

I am an African student who needs almost full cost attendance to be covered (hopefully, Amherst is need blind lol) #:-S
GPA 4.0/4.0 unweighted and 4.44/ 4.0 weighted.
well, I attend a specialty and gifted students school, and getting an B from there could literally be as difficult as getting like A+ in other schools in the country. Besides, my all STEM courses, along with English, are high-honors meaning that I have successfully completed the most rigorous courses available at my school, and then been accepted to take high-honor courses from the most prestigious university nearby by faculty professors recommendations.

Worked in a research on the existence of room-temperature super conductors, Got an invitation in the nation’s most prominent research institute as a result.

Amherst Essay: how i fell short to prove the well cliched 1+1 +2 statement after being big headed about my math.

I think you’ll get in.
Good luck

Great chances, good luck!

Thank you for the kind words. It is just two weeks to go now, anyway. Are there any decisions or discussion threads on Amherst 2023 ED? @wisteria100 @Orcmeister

And by the way, in an unrelated topic, what type of applicant would I look like should I apply to the Ivy League or Stanford?

did you already apply ED to Amherst or elsewhere?

I have applied already. Eagerly waiting for the decisions. Wbu? Truth be told, I am actually torn between large research universities and small LACs: both appeal to me. We will see what the results are in a week’s time. @anon145

@ OP, same. I’m torn between large universities and LACs too. As a Liberal Arts student, though, my mind is telling me LACs would be better but my heart keeps stupidly going ‘Big Universities… coz they’re big’. I’m a bit of a mess lol. Anyways, I’m obviously not qualified to comment on your chances, being an applicant myself, but your ECs seem pretty unique and strong, especially the dance thingies.

Wait, you are a liberal arts student and an applicant? You must be a transfer applicant, then. ???
Not to digress from the discussion, I am a traditional dances expert of my country which, for privacy reasons, I won’t be revealing now.
And I think, if anything from my application stands out, it must be the essays, my church service, or my transcripts. I promise to post my essays if I am accepted, as they might be of some insight for future applicants. My church service: it is like to be selected from the 15 million+ students to a literary church study committee. The committee, you guessed it, has few (only 15-20) members, and I am in top three. (the third, to be precise.)
My transcripts: this might be the craziest thing you will read today. Let me tell you my school program: we learn from 2am till 6am (local) straight for four hours. Then we toil for about 3 hours in one or two of the research fields we participate in. Then, we study for many hours a day. I, for example, study from 10am till 4pm (local). Then have my dinner, sleep for 3 hours, wake up, do my homework sets for a couple of hours, then take a quick nap. By this time one of my soccer teammates or the coach will have called me and blared asking why the heck I am not on the field yet. That counts like 16+ hours of lectures and study. This, amalgamated with the occasional data sets we are given to organize, makes a sleep any longer than 4hours- per day, of course - luxurious. And the grading is also so brutal, at least in my eyes. For example, to get and A** - the maximum possible grade in the class - you need to get 100% questions of all exams and assignments right. And the classes which I attend are honors, meaning that the courses are essentially the same as university freshman courses. That is not the whole story, however. You need to show proof for 20+ hours of research and extra reading on the course, and get appreciation letters from the department’s dean and the specific teacher that teaches you. And to be sure you are not study obsessed and oblivious to working convivially with others, your class peers need to give an at east 60% Vote of Support on your behalf. I got A** on most of my stem subjects. The humanities were like As mostly.
Sadly, the AdComs would never know how much effort we put in to get these grades, for there is not a detailed description of the requirements on the official transcripts. They might even take the A- grades, gotten for 89-93%, for granted and hold them against us.
Having been in constant hardworking atmosphere, I think MIT would be the perfect match with me. A guy from my school at MIT has told me that he really is loving the workaholic culture there. He has
GPA of 4.9 while double majoring.
I think, if I got deferred or rejected from Amherst, MIT would be my second choice.
Oops, it was long. How about you, @DodosAreDead?
PS: I wrote it hastily. Sorry for any typos and grammar mistakes.

Ooh, that’s a crazy schedule you’ve got there.
Nah, I’m a freshman applicant, not a transfer. But I’m more interested in subjects from the Liberal Arts, is what I meant. I should’ve phrased it better, admittedly.

Nice! Have you already applied to Amherst? If so, I sincerely hope we both are accepted. Cheers, @DodosAreDead ! It is a long, wicked week of dilemma that waits for us. May God be with us. ; #-o

Nope, I’m applying RD since I applied EA to an Ivy. So it’s a long, wicked few MONTHS of dilemma that await me, lol. But cheers to you, and I hope you get in.

Good luck with your EA, too. :-h

@abyssinianchap When applying to a college and you waive your FERPA rights, you are saying you will not read your letters of recommendation. So while reading your letters of recommendation you were breaking a contract. If your college finds out about that, that’s NOT good.

Note taken. (especially the NOT part). First thing, how could you be sure I released the FERPA?
Second, it is with their own consent that the teachers let me read that. Besides, I am not really sure as to what constitutes the bad thing.
PS: I was actually monkeying around with the “plead” I mentioned.

The LMAO part, surely.
