Essays and Letters of Recommendation: ??? I think they’ll be pretty good but IDK ???
I’ve been so focused on building up my application that I haven’t had time to actually decide on a school . Feel free to suggest any fit and safety schools because if I’m being completely honestly I have no idea right now. Also I am a legacy at Harvard, Yale, and MIT not sure if that means anything though.
You are a competitive applicant. Your stats are great and your ECs are good. Your legacy hook will probably help your application if you decide to apply early to Harvard or Yale, not sure about MIT. Write amazing essays and you could get accepted to any of these schools
Your extracurriculars are good and they show a spike in STEM. Do you plan to take subject tests and what is your intended major? Your test scores and grades are solid and on par with the ivies. Make sure you write really good essays because they make all the difference. If you can try to ED for a school because that’ll improve your chances a lot.
Your stats are excellent. Your chances are lousy, because all of these schools have a 6% admissions rate. There’s a lot more to going to college than brand name. Prestige is quite simply overrated. Let’s say you do get a $100k job at a Wall Street firm. In New York, that’s barely paycheck to paycheck. After subtracting the cost of living and taxes, you’re actually making $45k-$50k a year…and add student loans to that. It amounts to just another entry level job. That’s why these firms recruit so much, it’s because of the high turnover.
This is what you need to do. Rethink! Do some research and find some schools that are a fit for you and what you want to do for your major. Find some scholarships.
“pretty good” LoRs: is that being modest, or are you really not sure that any of your teachers/GC see you as one of their stand-out students?
