If I apply ED, do I have any chance of getting in?
My D was admitted to Smith ED last year. Her class was the most competitive in Smith’s history. 75% of the accepted students were in the top 10% of the class. However, Smith has a holistic approach to admissions. I think one of the main things Smith looks for is a passion for learning. That seems to be the one thing the accepted students have in common. My D did not submit her test scores even though they were really good. She chose not to because she feels the test scores are IQ tests.
I have no idea if you will be admitted because the pool of applicants will be equally amazing. All colleges look to fill certain “slots” to ensure the class is as diverse as possible. As they review applications they look for all sorts of different types of students- athletes, musically inclined, varied academic interests, socio-economic status, regional diversity, international, artistic- you get the picture.
I think Smith is a target/reach for you. You are qualified and Smith just needs to decide if you fit in one of their slots. If you have any other questions let me know and I will try to answer them.
