Chance me - Computer Science Intent

Applied for early-action for Fall of 2018.

I am a Computer Science Intent and am awaiting to hear back if I got accepted. Here are my stats:

3.65 Unweighted GPA/4.2 Weighted
1250 SAT

Some things about me:

-Played in my school band in 9th grade
-Played Varsity Soccer for 4 years in highschool, Captain of the soccer team
-Community Service work for programs such as Feed the Hunger, Operation Christmas Child, Toys for Tots, and did work at some local missions
-National Honors Society student (11th and 12th grade)
-Am apart of my church’s official prayer team, we meet every Monday and are active in the church
-Have experience working in a factory (my first job) as a picker for a sports company over the summer last year

Honors Classes:

US History Honors 1, US History Honors 2, US World History Honors, Algebra 2 Honors, Algebra 1 Honors, Geometry Honors, Honors Biology, Pre-Calculus Honors, English 10 Honors

AP Classes:

AP Literature, AP Language and Composition, AP Biology, AP Calculus AB (these were all the AP offered at my school)

I always tell it straight. UNC is one of the toughest schools in the country to get into. According to prepscholar, yourr grades are below average. The average weighted GPA is 4.6 and the average SAT is 1370. Even with average stats, the acceptance rate is 30%, which is the same statistical chance of getting into UT-Austin Law School. Your stats are a match for NC State, which is a 50/50 probability. You’ll want to apply for a few safety schools just in case.

Also, getting into a college doesn’t necessarily mean getting into the major you want. Flagship schools tend to be highly competitive with their CS degrees. It’s not unusual to apply for a CS major during your second year in college and get rejected with a 3.5 GPA, and be forced to transfer somewhere else. I see it all the time on this website. As a computer professional myself, I can say that the degree will be employable regardless of what school you go to.
