Chance me Dartmouth please!!!

Okay, I am going to be a senior very interested in Dartmouth.

My dad attended dartmouth as an undergraduate and if i apply, it will be ED.

However, by no stretch of the imagination am I the strongest candidate, but I do not fully understand what my chances are and need some guidance.

SUmmer experience
I just attended Amherst College for 2 weeks for the Great Books SUmmer Program

My essay's will be strong as well. I know that I am not that strong, but please tell me whereabout I stand. Chance me and I'll chance back!! Thanks in Advance!!

Unfortunately, my gpa is pretty low, so I’ll be in the top 25%, unless I’m seriously mistaken

Unfortunately, you are not as competitive a candidate for Dartmouth as you need to be for a good chance at acceptance. Don’t get me wrong, you are a very GOOD student but I don’t think you will be competitive with Dartmouth’s applicant pool. Your EC’s are also a “little” thin also, so you won’t stand out. Best of luck to you on some of the other good schools that will undoubtedly be your list! Not sure about your “legacy” comment with regard to “undergrad”, since Dartmouth is an undergrad school. Did your dad graduate from Dartmouth? If he did, I don’t think this will overcome your stats/resume.

Rank is too low, even as a legacy.

Most likely rejection at Dartmouth.

thanks for the insight thus far.

I knew Dartmouth was a reach but I was also wondering about these schools.

University of Michigan
Rutgers New Brunswick
Lehigh U
University of Rochester
Carnegie Mellon
JHU
Northwestern
Cornell
University of Virginia

Most likely rejection at Cornell and Northwestern

^Agreed, except I’d extended the possibility of rejection to Hopkins and UVA as well.

Might look at Holy Cross, Bucknell-both very good schools with strong sports programs. Holy Cross(don’t have to be religious) has nice campus 1 hour from Boston. HC plays Dartmouth in most sports and is Dartmouth’s oldest non-IVY sports rival.

yeah i meant to put bucknell on that list, as well as NYU

Dartmouth is out of reach. I know because i had similar stats, if not better, and was denied. (31 ACT, 2/485 at the time, 10 APs, 790 U.S. History, 680 Math 1 =/ , average to slightly above average ECs, white male)

University of Michigan -Maybe on the yes side
Rutgers New Brunswick - Yes
Lehigh U - Yes
University of Rochester - Yes
Carnegie Mellon - No
JHU - No
Northwestern - No
Cornell - Maybe on the no side
University of Virginia - Don’t chance on my own school

My bad, JHU was supposed to be a no originally =(

^I would say a likely no at JHU

So my legacy won’t really do anything for me? Would there be any difference if I got my ACT to 33 or 34?
