Hi, I am currently a junior white male(i know race plays a role in admissions) at a large high school in South Florida trying to get into the University of Florida, my dream school.
I am 145 in my class out of 1098, about 12%.
I have a 4.7 weighted, 3.6 unweighted, and a 4.0 core.
I am a four year varsity lacrosse member, two year National Honor Society member, president of Psi Alpha Beta, which is my school's Psychology Honor Society, treasurer for Debbie's Dream Club, a foundation supporting stomach cancer research and I also intern at their offices. This summer I will be continuing my role in Psychology by working a paying job at Child Provider Services, an intensive summer camp for developmentally disabled children.
My standardized tests scores are SAT 510 math, 610 reading, 660 writing, 1780 composite all of which i am disappointed with and am working to raise. My ACT is 31 writing, 28 reading, 25 math, 24 science, 27 composite.
My APs that i will have taken are Psychology, European History, Human Geography, Environmental Science, United States History, English Language and Composition, Government, Economics, and English Literature. I have also dual enrolled with Religion, Sociology, and Total Wellness. Never below a B in any although I received a C in sophomore algebra II, although improving obtaining A's in pre calculus.
Im not sure how direct family has to be for legacy but my mom, dad, both my aunts, and an uncle went here.

Please tell me my chances, I have always dreamed of going to this school.

Does your school have Naviance? If so, it’s a good tool.

Otherwise.

Let’s look at the numbers – I’m looking at the Common Data Set for this School:

http://www.ir.ufl.edu/OIRApps/commondataset/c_ftic_admission.aspx

As you probably know, there is a significant difference between your SAT’s and ACT’s. Your SAT CR+M probably would put you below the 25th percentile for admissions. However, your ACT puts you in the 25th percentile- 75th percentile corridor. A better sign. Try to bring the numbers up if you can. Consider only submitting the ACT.

The school claims that 77% of their students are in the top 10% of their HS Graduating class. You’re a bit below that.

Alumni Relations are “considered” but not “important”, meaning, it may help, couldn’t hurt.

It also looks like you took a pretty rigorous HS schedule.

Overall – you should definitely be looking at schools in this level. Maybe a high match, maybe a low reach. But certainly worth an application.

Your chances look pretty good. The specs are fair enough for Univ. of Florida, and it doesn’t hurt that you are applying as an in-state student.

Out of curiosity, what major are you applying for?

Zephyr15 what is that?

Lordfenix10, I’m thinking about psychology but there just isn’t much money. So possibly something social like public relations.

Naviance is a database, which tracks everyone in your HS.

Essentially, it tracks the SATs and GPA’s (maybe ACT too) of all applicants to every school, and whether they got in, got rejected, etc.

So, if your school has this, you can see how students with stats similar to yours did in getting admitted.

Ask your GC whether you have this.

Cool, that sounds interesting. Personally, I was thinking of pursuing that course too, double major in computer science/psychology with a neuroscience concentration. I hope you get in :)
