Hey guys,

I have been lurking around this forum ever since I started think about colleges and now I finally decided to make an account. I am doing this because I need help from you guys.

Okay, I have applied to 6 schools with my major being Computer Engineering. These 6 schools are (in order of preference):

SUNY New Paltz

SUNY Stony Brook

SUNY at Buffalo

SUNY Institute of technology (SUNYIT)

Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT)

SUNY at Binghamton

I have recently received a rejection letter from SUNY New Paltz and SUNY Stony Brook and I am devastated. I can't believe I got rejected from my first 2 decision letters and also my top 2 schools. I am now hoping that I at least get my next 2 choices. I also sent New Paltz and Stony Brook e-mails asking them to reconsider my application and I tried to include as much information as I can that I couldn't mention in the Common Application. I received a reply a day later from New Paltz stating that I should call them to discuss this matter and also from Stony Brook saying that I should type a 1 page essay stating why I should get reconsidered and have it faxed to them. I will try to get the essay done tonight and have it faxed tomorrow and for New Paltz I will give them a call after school Monday.

So I'm asking you guys to help me get an idea of whether I have a chance in getting reconsideration for New Paltz and Stony Brook as well as getting accepted into my other schools. Most importantly, here are my stats:

GPA: 84 weighted (I know it's a little low but I do show a progressive trend through my years as well as a 90 weighted average in my mid year senior report that I sent)
Courses: English Honors every year except senior year, AP Biology, Advanced Algebra, passed all my classes and all my regents, Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-calculus. I am also going to earn 14 college credits at the end of my senior year for the college level classes i'm taking.
SAT: 1650/2400
Reading: 500
Math: 580
Writing: 570
ECs: Swimming and tennis( no teams), 200+ volunteer hours at a hospital, learned to play the drums, volunteered at my school's open house all 4 years (again not much but I will include in my reconsideration that I have to help my mother who is permanetly disabled and cannot walk)
Ethnicity: Asian
First generation college student
English is not my first language.
