Chance me for any of the accelerated medical programs and Ivy Leaugue colleges PLEASE

@Shrinkrap I didn’t mean it like that. I’m just saying that I have the drive and I wanna take advantage of it bc you need the drive for an accelerated program. I don’t need premed to decide if I wanna be a doctor you know? I already know it’s what I want to do. Anyway, thanks a lot!

You are quite welcome.

Keep in mind that along the way, you gain experience with life, and that makes you a better student, and hopefully a better person, and a better doctor. I graduated a little early, and looked a very young by the time I graduated. Folks used to call me a “baby doctor”, and it was sometimes hard to get their trust. Part of that is inevitable, but there is perspective in having had a number of experiences, and not just in the classroom.

@Shrinkrap Oh I see what you mean. I am worried about being too young as well. I’ll only be 22-23 when I graduate med school. Hopefully I can prove to my colleagues that age is not a factor.

@Shrinkrap Sorry to bother you, but I have a question. Can you check out my most recent thread and answer it please? You seem like you’d know the answer. Thank you!

I’ll be honest: looking at your application, there is no evidence of interest in the medical field whatsoever. You don’t have any STEM EC’s and your STEM AP scores are all 3’s. Your SAT Bio is also pretty low. I mean, yeah you’re committed to what you do and you’re moderately successful. But, to be blunt, I doubt you can get in to Ivies or accelerated med programs with that kind of a resume.

Some advice: start doing scientific research and start shadowing a doctor. This is as close as you can get at this point. At the very least, you’ll be able to figure out whether you want to go down the medicine path.

bump

@sirswish7‌ I was actually interested in doing an MBA up until sophomore year so my ECs may be mixed. I am shadowing several doctors, plus I just applied to my 8th lab this summer. The other 7 closed down. -_-

@alwayssona The people I’ve known who’ve been accepted to both accelerated med programs like HPME/PLME and the Ivies like Harvard, Dartmouth, Penn, etc. have had stats along the lines of this: 4.0 GPA, 2350+ SAT, All-State band/orchestra, Varsity sport (4 years), and more.

Hey! I’m hoping to become a doctor as well. Your stats are great, but your extracurriculars are on point. You have a really good chance for acceptance at some schools with medical programs. USC-- match
UCLA- match, UC Davis- match, Brown university- low reach, JHU- match, Stanford- reach
We should keep in touch!
Please chance me- http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1672761-chance-me-for-stanford-university.html</a></p>

Medicine is more heavily focused on your academics rather than ECs, and you’re incredibly strong in that area. You’re a contender anywhere. Good luck and chance back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1673832-will-chance-back-chance-me-for-cmc-barnard-bryn-mawr-columbia-stanford-cornell-umich-stern.html#latest</a></p>

@sirswish7 Sigh. Wow. Too bad that’s not me. :(

@Dream0n Hey thanks for that. I’ll PM you.

@vballgurl Haha, I hope you’re right about being a contender everywhere. I will definitely chance back!
