I am a Russian Jewish male from Southern California. I go to an extremely competitive public high school (Westlake High School).
SAT: 2050
GPA: 3.8 UW 4.4 W
SAT Subject Tests: Math 2: 670
EC:
-I am a complete band nerd that plays 4 instruments in the 3 top bands at my school (marching, jazz, and concert).
-I was section leader, uniform manager, and equipment manager in marching band for the past 4 years, and section leader for Bass Clarinets in concert band. ( I want to be in marching band at BC)
-I have volunteered for Los Robles Hospital for 2 years (4 hours a week), done a summer internship (2 years) with a General Surgeon, and volunteered at a nursing home last year.
-Every Tuesday and Thursday (since last year) I tutor underprivileged 1st- 3rd graders; I helped a group of five 2nd graders throughout the year with math and reading skills.
-I also have this program at my school called Advanced Anatomy. This is a very selective class where 30 students (selected from 100 very qualified applicants from the school) are admitted. In this class, the 30 students are able to fully dissect and analyze human cadavers. Every 2 weeks, medical specialists come in and help with the dissections. Also, this is a very rigorous (and time consuming) course where most Saturdays are dissection days. The difficulty of this class is similar to a medical school class. So, this is a perfect class for future doctors, something I want to be.
