Chance me for Boston College

I think you could get into Boston College it is a little bit of a mid reach but you have really shown that you’re a hardworking student and as long as you reflected that in your essay, I think you can get accepted. You have really good volunteer hours and you have really nice EC’s. I think you have a pretty good shot! Chance me back?

Do you know if Boston College puts a heavy emphasis on test scores or are they more concerned about the ECs?

@brian2746 they are test oriented

It depends on you and your specific application. Often test scores and grades are used as a “check the box” to determine if the applicant can handle the workload. Then the adcoms move on to the more meaningful parts of your application.

Bump

jpm answered your question, brian.

No one can chance you. We can only compare you against average statistics. For example, ~85% of matriculants were in the top decile of their HS class, in comparison to your top 15% ranking. Your AP scores are not that strong either, as many matriculants have 4’s and 5’s with some 3’s.

OTOH, below “average” stats can be mitigated by a really competitive HS, overcoming a difficult family situation, and/or great essays and ECs. Such is the “art” of admissions, once one gets beyond the numbers. BC is also looking for what you bring to campus. Only the Adcoms have the complete application package to make that determination…

Good luck.
