Chance me for Bowdoin please?

Hi. I'm a white female from PA. I come from a lower middle/ working class family. I'm going to be graduating from a poorer public high school that has low standardized test scores and a low graduation rate.

I have a 97.31 GPA (I think it's weighted because my school only gives one on the transcript). I am 18th in my class out of 250 (top 10%), but the class total drops weekly so that number might go down. I have an 1840 on the SAT, and I just retook it this weekend. If it doesn't go up considerably I will not submit it, so please don't consider it.

My Common App is essay is really good, and it is a product that I can be pleased with. Essentially, it's about how my interest in history has shaped my entire life from when I was younger, and how it continues to shape my academic interests, volunteer work, and future career plans. My recommendations should be good because I asked 2 AP teachers that know me really well because I took all of their offered classes and my guard coach, who has instructed me for six years, since middle school.

Thank you.

Choosing a test optional school provides a good safety net because I agree that if your 1840 doesnt go up, dont send it because the rest of your app is great. I would recommend applying ED to increase chances but you have a good shot even without it. Chance back please?

Im not sure how bumps work, but I would love another response or two on this thread.

I admire that you know what you love and have based your activities around it. It shows true passion and commitment, and those are things that any college would love from an applicant. Your GPA looks great, but Bowdoin will obviously take your grades and weight them to their own standards. Ultimately, I think your chances of getting in are fair. Good luck.
