Chance me for Brown 2024 RD, I'll chance back!

Indian Male in Suburbs
SAT: 1500 (800 M, 700 R/W)
Weighted GPA: 5.7025
UW GPA: 3.97-4 (although my have one B+ in Calc BC for senior year first semester)
Rank: 8/294
Subject Tests: 800 Chem, 800 Math 2

ECs:
Science Olympiad (Co Captain), 4 years, 9+ awards at regional/invitational level
Math Club (Secretary), 4 years
Student Government (Class Treasurer), 2 years
JV/Varsity Tennis (2 years JV, 2 years Varsity)
Internship at Boeing
Summer unpublished bio research at local university
75+ hours volunteering at local VA, 100+ hours volunteering at tutoring center

Forgot to mention: 13 APs including Senior year, I have a very rigorous senior year course load of 6 Aps consisting of AP Physics C, AP Calc Bc (two of hardest Aps in my school), AP Bio, Ap Stat, AP Lit, AP Gov

hmm SAT general could’ve been higher but SAT II is strong, GPA and course load are clearly at ivy level, and nice extracurriculars. Other than your SAT you’re more qualified than the average applicant by far so I think you’ve got at least a 20% chance up to a 50% (depends on how your essays were)

30% to 50% depending on how you wrote your essays

i

Numbers hit the requirement. Extracurriculars show leadership, really depends on essays. Also I wouldn’t quantify community service based off a #. It’s quality, not quantity.

Maybe like 20-30%

chance me?

Brown unhooked reg decision applicant pool ~3%. Full of kids with top scores, gpa and ecs. You need to be exceptional in some area to have a significantly higher chance. Or write a perfect application and hope that you are one of the 3%. Sounds harsh i know but that’s just the way it is.

thanks ! @864346 @minimickey

@blondeboynj

wow, we have similar stats! I think for both of us, it depends on our essays since we both have no hooks. Best of Luck! :slight_smile:

How much do you understand what Brown looks for and how they are unique, which affects that what they seek? The 700 is below the bar they hope to find, not made up for by higher stem SAT2. And for stem, the BC grade can be an issue.

You do not need to be “exceptional” in some one area. All areas need to be strong, for tippy tops. Rigor, not just AP count. AP scores. Match matters very much. So how does one write some random “great” essay, if you dont have a good sense of what match is?

The competition for tippy tops is fierce. Plus where you are, for geo diversity, will impact final chances. And we don’t know if OP is a US citizen of Indian ethnicity or means an international applicant.

Use the next 2 days wisely. See how you can polish.

@lookingforward,

yep I know its a long shot lol, not expecting anything at all. And I am a US citizen, just though I should mention my parents are from India in terms of race.

@lookingforward, forgot to mention I live in PA

@lookingforward Do you think my area will be geographical diversity in a New England school?

Also, thanks OP. I really like my Brown essays, they are fairly quirky (my Open Curriculum one really embodies some of my unique passions). I’d say my extracurricular is the weakest of the four, but that’s because I went with a mainstream activity - babysitting - and focused on making it really warm and fuzzy. Hopefully my Common App and other essays wow the AdCom, my stats are good enough, and that babysitting essay makes them smile. Brown is obviously a huge reach school

“Do you think my area will be geographical diversity in a New England school?”

Suburban NJ is definitely not an underrepresented geographic region for Brown. Only California, New York, and Mass send more students to Brown.
