frivolous question here, but don’t some colleges ask if they are LGBTQ+? if an asian male pursuing engineering were to put that he sees himself as female, would that help his chances at all? (these questions are usually asked at the end of an application…what gender do you identify as, sexuality ect.) i dont think those questions can negatively affect your application but could that help him be more diverse?
(im in no way saying he should do this if this doesn’t apply to him, but im just curious if people do that and if it actually has any effect on an application)
@otoribashi Well I’m a heterosexual male and intend to put that if asked.
I assume that if the person was LGBTQ, it would add some diversity to his application. However, I wouldn’t see it to be that impactful for colleges.
An update.
I got Grand Prize 2nd in Physics & Astronomy for the Intel ISEF.
I hope this is a significant boost to my resume.
It’s been a year and so I have my college results. For those that are curious, I have gotten in Stanford, Princeton, UPenn, and UCBerkeley — not Caltech or MIT. I’ll be attending Stanford this fall, and I couldn’t be happier! #gotrees
