Chance Me For College of Arts and Sciences

Hey, I'm a high school junior and I just got my first SAT results back. I'm going to apply for the College of Arts and Sciences as a history major. Can you guys honestly tell me what you think my chances for admission are based on my current profile.

GPA: 3.7 weighted / 3.4-3.5 unweighted

Rank: Probably top 25-30%

SAT: 1970 as follows 720 Critical Reading; 580 Math; and 670 Writing (I plan on taking the SAT again in Jan and then ACT for the first time in Feb 2015)

SAT II World History Subject Test: 680 (I'll take the US History Subject Test in June 2015)

AP World History: 5/5 (I'll also be taking the US History & English AP Exam)

Hook: African-American Male

EC: Track freshmen year; Basketball manager sophomore year; running cross country this year and next

Job: Working at Chick-fil-a since June 2014

Thanks in advance for any advice or input that I receive from you guys.

Get that math score up and maybe get an internship at a history museum or something and you’re in.

Oh also try and raise that GPA to at least a 3.6 UW if you can.

Thank you very much for your feedback aoeu123. I see that NYU superscores so I will definitely be focusing on math for my next SAT.

In regard to the GPA, do you know if NYU allows you to resubmit grades/high school transcript? If I got the 3.6 UW at the end of my fall semester senior year, could I update my application?

If you are doing early decision, no. If you are doing regular decision, I believe you can send them in to support your application but it wouldn’t really matter much.

Just try and get all A’s both semesters of your junior year.
