I posted this on Columbia transfer thread and got ignored… I really need some ppl to chance me to appease my unsettled mind.
Current international Freshman, applying for CC’s Asian Culture and Language program
No financial aid needed
Current University: Grinnell College
Current GPA: 3.9 (Straight A mid-term report)
ACT: 32
High school GPA: 3.9 unweighted, 4.1 weighted (Studied in an American HS in Conn)
College EC’s:
- Started an East Asian Studies club at a school without EAS major
- Student government member
- Founder of a subtitle group with 300k followers on Chinese websites
- Writing for an organization that promotes liberal arts education in China
- Currently doing a Vlog series promoting Asian culture
Other:
- Transfer excuse is legit; Grinnell does not have EAS/ Asian Studies major
- Taking as many Asia-related courses as I can and I have "A"s on these courses
- Recs should also be good; 2 recs written by Asia-related courses’ professors
- Essay is quite solid; All essays are proofread by personal counselor, extremely Asian-Studies-focused, and are demonstrating knowledge about East Asia as well as Columbia’s professors, courses, and programs.
- Not taking any sciences or math class. Phew!
Thank you so much for chancing me!
