Applying to Duke, Columbia and Harvard as an Econ major. My ECs include a relevant internship, relevant clubs and a few other intangibles. Recs from Econ prof. and Stat prof. (A's in both).

It’s hard to give solid chances for any of those schools due to how competitive they are but I would say that you have a better than 50% chance of being accepted to at least 1 of the 3.

nothing standout enough for Harvard; other two decent odds

Bumping this for more opinions.

Though ostensibly this shouldn’t matter–I’m a domestic applicant–I should mention that I’m not applying for FA.

Out at Harvard.

A 3.7 at a state university, albeit a good one, isn’t all that impressive for Columbia or Duke. I think your odds will depend on how difficult your courseload was. If you took five or more demanding classes last semester, you might be okay; however, if you took only 4 classes, I doubt you’ll have a good chance at either Columbia or Duke.

I think good shot at columbia General Studies. i go to unc and people don’t understand that a 3.7 GPA at UNC would be a 4.0 at most other universities. Other unis know the reputation of UNC and a 3.7 is top notch, be proud!
