<p>Hello there! This is my first post, and I would really like to know my chances for being accepted into Duke under the Early Decision plan. Duke is truly my top choice, and I absolutely fell in love with the school when I visited this summer. Thanks for all the help!</p>

<p>Me: Asian American (Chinese) male</p>

<p>Financial Aid: will apply</p>

<p>High school: public with a good number of achieving grads each year</p>

<p>Unweighted GPA: 3.833/4.0</p>

<p>Weighted GPA: 5.566/~7.10 (7.10 was last year's valedictorian's weighted GPA)</p>

<p>Class rank: top 6% out of a graduating class of ~700</p>

<p>SAT: 760 CR, 710 M, 770 W, for a total of 2240</p>

<p>SAT IIs: Biology E-750, Literature-720, US History-720, Math Level 2-760</p>

<p>Extracurriculars: Health Information Project (upperclassmen visiting freshmen class to teach health topics); Students Helping Achieve Philanthropic Success (focusing on one huge service project each year); piano student for 6 years</p>

<p>Leadership: President of Health Information Project</p>

<p>Volunteer: volunteered at local hospital over one summer; coached basketball for 22 weeks</p>

<p>Honors/Awards: AP Scholar with Distinction; National Honor Society; Mu Alpha Theta (math honor society); 3x "Superior" piano performance rating bestowed by Florida Federation of Music Clubs</p>

<p>Summer programs: All-expense paid six-week scientific apprenticeship at the University of Wyoming (2013): worked with a professor and a grad student, presented findings, and wrote a full-length research paper</p>

<p>Coursework: 13 APs/24 total classes; remaining 11 were primarily honors classes, plus PreCal and PE online</p>

<p>AP exams: all 4s and 5s</p>

<p>Family: three brothers (one in college); both parents have bachelor's</p>

<p>Duke short responses: I believe they're really good</p>

<p>Letters of recs: haven't seen them, but I'm sure they're stellar</p>

<p>Alumni interview: alumna wrote a "glowing" recommendation</p>

<p>Art supplement: submitted two musical pieces</p>

<p>Research: submitted Wyoming research paper abstract</p>

<p>I think you have a good chance for Duke ED, but - as with most top schools - unless you are a legacy or an athlete it could go either way. Still a very competitive applicant. </p>
