SPORTS
Golf and field hockey varsity all four years, golf captain junior and senior year.
Please note that varsity is not offered in these sports, and I couldn’t play either at the college level

You have a chance, and I think you’ll get in. Your test scores and gpa are good. Your ECs are a little cliche’d but your double legacy, aunts, and teacher from Duke would most likely help you a lot. Good luck and tell me how it goes!
Please chance me back: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1672761-chance-me-for-stanford-university.html</a></p>

Where are the AP/IB classes? I doubt your private schools lack them. A 4.0 only looks good if you are taking a rigorous course load otherwise it appears you are selling yourself short. And since you are interested in foreign languages/the classics, why not take those at the AP level?

My school doesn’t have AP/IB classes, if you want to know why you can read below- I copied and pasted this from my school’s website. I don’t think this has much of an effect because my school always graduates many students to top schools.

After thoughtful, lengthy discussion within the school, we have reached a strong consensus that the College Entrance Examination Board’s Advanced Placement [A.P.] program no longer serves the school’s mission or our students’ needs as it once did. The strengths of the AP programs are greatly outweighed by myriad disadvantages when teaching to a generic, external high stakes test – the very kind of teaching that is being cited everywhere as antithetical to best pedagogical practices.

And while the AP program may help weaker schools elevate their curriculum, it is no longer standard practice at competitive universities to accept AP credit. Nor does the AP label guarantee extra consideration in the college admissions process.

The erosion of AP participation among independent schools – and some first-rate public school districts - is widely known. We know we can create programs that retain the rigor and intellectual challenge of the best of the AP program while allowing our own highly-educated and creative faculty to create college-level programs that are relevant, exciting, and tailored to our own needs and direction.

The courses replacing our AP offerings in 11th and 12th grade will be equally demanding. High-level courses will retain our typical prerequisites to ensure a good match between student and course work. In some courses much of the current AP curriculum will be retained; others will include more relevant and focused material.

Strong numbers and very strong EC, plus your parents both went to Duke. Have a nice mix of Science and literary

you have a very good shot (even without legacy u would probly be a shoo-in) especially with ED. if that is the most difficult schedule in ur school, that is fine. just put good thought in ur essays, have them reviewed by English teachers, and ur set.
chance me? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1674689-chances-at-bs-md-programs.html#latest</a></p>

@FischerDude97‌ thank you!!

thank you @oregon5s !!! good luck to you too

I would be surprised if you didn’t get into Duke. Your scores are good, your ECs are great, and your class rigor is good. Also, you are taking a lot of language classes, something not many students do. I think that will set you apart. Make sure your essays are up to par, and you should be set, especially with ED! Good luck!

70-30 chance of getting in. Everything seems in place . Chance me please !

Wow you have amazing stats and interesting ECs! I’m almost certain you’ll get in. Congratulations on all your great achievements!

You should never be surprised if someone doesn’t get into Duke. It’s a lottery school.

thank you so much @jinx123445‌ @germangirl123‌ and @SameerHussain‌ !!! Your feedback very much appreciated!

@Innominata‌ ?? I have never heard this before, and I am 99.9% sure duke is not a lottery school. What makes you say that?

sounds like youre going to duke! legacy…

@cassa22‌ WAit… did you take any SAT Subject Tests?

@cassa22‌ Also, do you hold officer positions (preferably President) in any of your clubs? Because you should :o (But this is coming from an asian :))

@cassa22‌ Do you even know what lottery school means? Duke has a 10% acceptance rate. It is among the 8-12 most selective schools in America. It’s a reach for virtually everybody who hasn’t won a major academic award…

@cassa22‌ @Innominata‌ Duke is def a lottery school. basically all top 15 can be considered lottery schools
