jcollege015,

I was recently accepted to Emory, and so I hope I can
give you some help here.
Personally, I wouldn’t be discouraged by Emory’s 20% rejection rate; that includes the
people who probably didn’t have a chance anyway. Schools think you’re more
than a profile, but your profile looks very good so far. I think that Emory values both
academic excellence and community service, something you amply demonstrate. If I had
to bet, I would bet you’d get accepted at Emory.
I could give you a lot of reasons why. You have a strong GPA and test scores. Congrats
on National Merit! You seem to be very involved in school activities. I was home schooled,
but managed to be accepted anyway. Maybe I count as diversity
Speaking of diversity, Emory is widely known for its efforts to recruit a diverse class. I’m a white
male, so the competition was probably a little harder for me. Given that, you probably have a better-
than-normal chance of being accepted to Emory. I just want to note that your race or gender probably
won’t make a huge difference.
Altogether, I think your profile currently looks like that of many Emory students. I believe you’ll get
accepted, but I hope you’ll make sure Emory is actually a good fit for you. I’ve seen far too many seniors
like me end up as freshman at schools they really hated. Please let me know if you have any more questions.
