Chance me for Georgetown

Hey y’all I just visited the D.C schools and fell in love with Georgetown. From across the Potomac it looks like Europe and totally took my breath away. The majors offered and atmosphere make me really think this is where I wanna be so if y’all could chance me please that would be awesome.

I know that colleges look for students that fit niches. My newspaper extra curriculars are super impressive. Does that make up for a sub-par GPA. What does my ACT mean for Dartmouth E.D?

Very strong application! Only low is GPA so just work on kicking as much butt this year in class as you can because I know the average GPA at Georgetown was above 4.0 at least this year and the average kid was in the top 2% of his/her class. However, the extracurriculars are truly breathtaking. Assuming none of the soft factors (interview, recs, essay) go horribly wrong, I think you have a very good shot. Those extracurriculars are something that will make any college want you and if you’re interested in journalism and politics, as it seems you are, I’d say there’s no better place to spend the most formative years of your life where you’ll be making all the important connections at the best university in the capital of the most powerful nation in the history of the world. You would also be an excellent fit for Georgetown, your information really screams Georgetown.

Also, just my $0.02: I wouldn’t apply ED to Darty- not dissing it, it’s great at a lot of things- but for journalism it’s just not and mainly because it’s in the middle of nowhere. Generally the best schools for journalism are Columbia, Georgetown, and Harvard- as they’re the best schools for it in their respective cities, all of which are HUGE and actually have a lot going on so there are plenty of opportunities in Journalism for everything from internships to actual careers, and connections to the people who have gone before you from those schools and locked in a gig as a journalist who can help you out. Dartmouth, sadly, is in the mountains- I have somewhat similar interests as you and turned it down for Georgetown and it was pretty much a no-brainer for me.

But yeah overall great shot at both Georgetown and Dartmouth.

PM me if you have any questions!
