I’m only a sophomore but if I improve my SAT score(likely) what are my chances for Harvard?
If not Harvard, then where?
I know it may be difficult to tell since I’m only a sophomore but I would appreciate any feedback!

What’s your unweighted GPA? Hopefully 3.9 -4.0?

Yeah, get that SAT up.

Your passion for music is good. Outside a top 20 school, it looks great. Inside, its just predictable. Good, but not the prise winner. Unless there’s more to it than you indicate.

Can you build on that political activism? Doesn’t matter what party. Commitment is good.

Unweighted is 4.0
And I’m planning on starting a young democrats club at my high school? That would help right?
Thanks! @WasatchWriter

Honestly, no offense, but u truly need to wait until at least the end of your junior year before anyone can provide any type of guess. Freshman and Sophomore year are much easier than Junior and Senior year, often not being able to showcase the stress and harder classes that can influence the GPA later on.
However, I would say that if you do keep going at the current level, you might have a shot. Just keep it up, boost the SAT to about 2300 or higher (trust me you can and you have the time to do it). Also, try to keep on volunteering for as much time as you can. DO NOT LISTEN TO OTHERS when they say that you need to have 10 extra-curricular involvements. Based on what I have heard from top admissions readers, extra-curriculars that possess a large amount of focus in specific areas (that are hopefully related to your future career and current interests) for a large quantity of time (generally 2-4 activities) are viewed much better, making a candidate seem like a real person. Remember, Top schools do not want a well-rounded student, they want well-rounded student bodies. Thus, be good at something specific and keep it up so that you can contribute to the diversity in a truly impactful way.

Yeah! Start it. And do more than have meetings. Make a difference in your community.

The previous post is correct. 10 activities is not better. Commitment to a handful is much better.

None taken, I understand!
Thanks so much! @jackisawesome

Thank you, will do @WasatchWriter

Your scores and extracurriculars are mostly in line with harvard’s. Bump that sat up and you will have an okay chance. That’s a good thing - believe me - anyone would be lucky to have an “okay” chance at Harvard. Good luck!

Thanks! @expertiger

It is quite possible for you to see an increase in your SAT to the Harvard median, or even a little beyond. You don’t mention your unweighted GPA. I estimate it is close to perfect. Keep at it. Although high grades and test scores.won’t, by themselves, get you into Harvard, they are usually a prerequisite.

Much appreciated! @notjoe
