Chance Me for Lawrenceville, Andover, Exeter, and SPS

Hey all,

I’m an 8th grader who is looking to apply for sophomore year.

I had 4.0 GPA in 6th grade, a bad 3.6-3.7 GPA in 7th and I currently have a 4.0 GPA
My sister attended Andover but only for her senior year, I do not think that will affect my chances though. I have two internships this summer. One for a political blog and another for a coding internship. I play tennis, run track, I have gotten top ranked in my state for latin multiple times. I am studying Russian for its philosophy, French for social studies, and Latin for law school and history. I am a moderate to strong essay writer and a strong interviewer. I will be taking the SSAT in June, what would I need to clinch a ticket to one of these schools.

I also love to receive and give criticism, so please fire away!

Sophomores, as you probably know because your sister had a very tough peer group to get into a single year at Andover, are the second-largest class most of these places take. So there’s more emphasis on particular school needs than freshman, but they are still looking for a pretty general pool of excellence. It’s pretty hard to guess odds without taking the SSAT yet, but assuming you do well and you would be a varsity contributor to tennis, you should have a decent shot. Your odds probably increase as you look on the bigger schools on the list–not just because of scale and family connection, but also in terms of interest fit and culture.
