Chance me for Rice, Tulane, Emory, GWU, and Brown?

I am a rising senior at a public, urban high school (3,000+ students). I am white, male, and strictly middle-class. I'm interested in Rice, Tulane, Emory, George Washington, and Brown. Thanks to everyone taking the time to help me out!

SAT: 2110 (650 CR, 660 M, 800 W)
SAT Subject Tests: US History, Spanish, Math II (waiting for scores)
ACT: 32 (36 E, 30 M, 32 R, 30 S)
APs: Span Lang, Calc AB, USH, Eng Lang (waiting for scores), taking Calc BC, US Gov, Microecon, Bio, Eng Lit, and possibly Euro next year

I have volunteered nearly 300 hours and counting at a local nature park. I have received the Silver Presidential Service Award for my volunteering efforts. I have been treasurer and section leader in band and will be a drum major next year. I have participated in National History Day for 6 years and advanced to the national contest twice. I am the vice president of my school's chapter of the National Honor Society. I have won various foreign language contests and advanced to various music contests in Texas.

Rice is pretty much my dream school, as I am pretty certain Brown is out of the question. Not really sure about GWU. Tulane and Emory are reach schools. My safety schools are UT Austin, University of Maryland, and LSU.

Also, I realize I do not have all of my scores in. I just wanted to get some general ideas as I move into applying to colleges.

Thanks again!

Your test scores look great! Whats ur GPA and class rank? Ecs look great too.

Rice- Reach
Brown - Reach for everyone
GWU- In
Tuland - in
Emory - dont know much about but I would say in / slight reach
UT- IN
UM- in
LSU- Lol. in

Chance me back?

My GPA is 3.921 and my rank is 1.

Thanks!!

Sorry if I missed it somewhere, but are you in-state for UT?

Yes, I am from Texas.

Ok. Well you’re auto-in at UT, so that won’t be of any concern.

I can’t image you not getting into Maryland and LSU. You might receive some nice merit money from them too.

Then comes Tulane and GWU, which you are of course not “in” like collegehopeful seemed to think, but you do have very good chances. Be sure to show plenty of interest in these two school, it’ll definitely help.

Emory is between a match and a reach. You have a good chance, but it’s harder to get into than the previous ones.

Rice and Brown will be tough. They accept so few that it’s hard to say for sure. I think you have a better chance at Rice than at Brown, but still, they’re reaches.

Write some good essays and get some good recs and I think you’ll be happy come time next April.

Yes, UT Austin is definitely my backup–I would even get my freshman year paid for by my district if I maintain my rank.

I will have to consider financial aid somewhere down the line. My parents will have to contribute to both my and my sister’s college education for one year. Thanks for bringing up merit money–I never really thought of that.

I am interested in Tulane and GWU largely because they are similar to Rice but slightly less selective (I have nothing going for me other than my grades and ECs) and because I love both New Orleans and Washington.

I’m not really all that into Emory–it’s just a school I’ll probably apply to.

I am very nervous about Rice. I know I will most definitely not get into Brown–I usually laugh about it when I talk about it haha. But Rice…

I am seriously considering applying early decision to Rice (chances of admission improve by about 10 percent.)

Get good recs and write good essays.
in at LSU and UT. Probably in at umd as well. You have a good shot at gwu and Tulane. Emory seems like a moderate reach. Rice and brown are reaches for everyone, of course, so it wouldn’t hurt to apply.
Chance me back please?

If money is an issue, then definitely keep an eye on the merit schools.
I’m not too familiar with the others schools merit systems, but I know at Tulane there’s a merit awards ranging all the way up to 25k or 27k (can’t remember which one). There’s also a community service scholarship which you might take a look at considering your community service is extremely solid.

Tulane is becoming pretty competitive. It’s pretty likely, but OP is not locked in at Tulane. I’ve seen some very qualified applicants here get rejected from Tulane but In at some other top schools.

Update on my Subject Tests:
Math Level II: 680
Spanish: 660
US History: 800
