Chance me for some ivies, UNC, Gtown, Tufts, etc.?

I’m a junior right now and live in Charlotte, NC, and I go to a catholic high school. White male.

Aside from APs, course load is all honors in any subject that APs aren’t offered.

ECs:

Speech and debate- NSDA, TOC, and CFL qualifier, secretary sophomore and junior years, captain of policy debate and congressional debate, president next year, all-time team NSDA points leader, instrumental in expanding our role on the circuit and increasing membership
Writer for a student-run think tank on financial issues. We discuss global and domestic issues, but I focus primarily on international affairs and developing economies.
Editor and writer for a scholarly publication that discusses speech and debate as a whole, and is one of the most widely-read news sources in my primary event (congressional debate). Some of you probably know what I’m talking about, but I don’t want a direct link to the site because it reveals a lot more about me than I feel comfortable sharing on here.
Investment club- Won our virtual stock trading game by a wide margin (think several thousand dollars). Not sure if it means anything but I thought I would add it here.
Carolina Premier Bank Student Board of Directors- Selected as part of a group of students to learn more about careers in finance and business, and to act as a group to help incubate ideas for the bank.

Thank you in advance!

Bump. Should also probably mention I’m in the National Honors Society (I’ll be doing tutoring all next year), and I’m likely going to be executive student council treasurer next year as well.

since you are in-state, UNC is a good shot. Gtown and tufts i think you can have a fair shot as well. One thing that stands out is that you may need to work on diversifying your “honors” other than just a list of debate awards.
Let’s get to the tough stuff. For the ivies, it’s going to be pretty tough. As we all know. Especially Harvard… and Stanford (east coast acceptance rate is less than 2%…)
For the ivies, your GPA (3.65 is a bit low for these highly selective schools) may drag you down; The ACT score is ok but if you want an SAT score that could do better than a 2300+ will suffice. Make sure you get solid 750+'s on your SAT II’s as well.
For your awards/honors, as i mentioned, you definitely need to diversify more than that. It’s good to have state and national level placements for debate, but what else? Also for EC’s, any community service (other than tutoring for just your senior year)? Any shining thing other than debate/writing? the board of directors thing seems interesting. Also make sure to show some commitment to your EC’s as well.

general comment: Your ACT score will be ok enough for the ivies, your rigorous courseload a positive, however your GPA will be a glaring point. Your EC’s seem like a good start but you may need to elaborate on some more things , especially your awards/honors section. Remember, Essays and Teacher Recs are also part of the application so don’t forget to make that as strong as possible to supplement these subjectives.
Again, the admissions process is complicated nowadays, there are no guarantees or anything. I can’t say even if you had a 4.0 GPA and 2400 SAT that you would get in to any of those ivies, well especially stanford and harvard. Just remember to show that you are a human to the admissions officers and not a bunch of data on a sheet of paper. And as always, put in your sincere effort and work and know that regardless you will end up in a school that you will enjoy.
