Chance me for Stanford Columbia and others

Hey guys I'm doing early action so I can't really boost my app anyways but please chance me!!

Objective: •SAT I (breakdown): 2200 (cr: 670, ma: 800, wr: 730 essay: highest is 11)

I took it twice

•ACT: took the October test already just in case for regular decision

Probably 34+

•SAT II: math II 800, physics 770, chem 730

I'm somewhat worried about these scores. 70th percentile??

•Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 3.9187 I think

•Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): 14/81

My rank is really bad. I go to a really prestigious public school (magnet). We had over 100 students in freshmen year though. Rank is bad because others took loads of aps - around 20+ aps total

•AP (place score in parenthesis): took 9 aps since freshmen to junior year. All are 4/5 except for world history which is a 3. I'm taking 8 ap classes this year so 17 aps classes total in high school.

•IB (place score in parenthesis): none

•Senior Year Course Load:

AP classes
Apes
Physics c mech/elec
Us govt
English Lang (took lit last year)
Stats
Bio
Art 2d design

Regular classes
Gym
Self defense

•Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.):

I'm not really sure if these are really major awards but I put them in the common app.

AIME qualifier
2014 Nanoexplorers at UTD (summer research)
Presidential volunteering service gold medal (group award)
Couple of state/ regionals academic contests (UIL) awards
Breeze wind energy contest 2nd place - won $75,000 for my school
Questbridge finalist and college prep scholar

Subjective:
•Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis):

-Math club: (co captain) Did several college math contests. Uta calculus bowl winner
-environmental science club(co-vice) cleaned up local lake with 15+classmates. This is the group in which I received the presidential gold volunteering
-community sponsor of a local heritage group for asian Americans
-dallas running club: participated in several marathons. Earned top finishes in age group
-NHS at my school. We did a project with "cranes for cancer" group
-ping pong club at school

•Job/Work Experience: 2014 research intern at ut dallas during summer. (No stipend)

•Volunteer/Community service:

Most of my volunteering is in conjunction with the environmental science group. (White rock lake, dallas arboretum, and others) I believe we did over 1000 hours as a group.

•Summer Activities: just the summer research and some math (uil) prep thing at my school

•Essays (rating 1-10, details):
I am quite harsh on myself sometimes so this is kinda subjective

I personally thought my common app essay was pretty creative and best out of all the essays. My counselor also agreed. Prob 7-9

Other essays for individual colleges are pretty decent

•Recommendations (rating 1-10, details):
•Teacher Rec #1: math teacher (calc ab teacher 10th grade) also my uil mathematics sponsor and amc sponsor. I believe it is awesome but i didn't read it.

•Teacher Rec #2: ap physics b 11th grade and physics pre-ap teacher 10th grade. I think it's good as well

•Counselor Rec: she doesn't really know me but I think it's alright

•Additional Rec:

Other
•State (if domestic applicant): texas

•Country (if international applicant):

•School Type: public

•Ethnicity: vietnamese asian American

•Gender: male

•Income Bracket: < $20,000

•Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.):

Is asian urm??
First generation college student
Parents divorced
One parent is unemployed

Colleges:

Stanford
Columbia
Princeton
Yale
Upenn
Brown
Uchicago
Rice
Ut Austin
SMU
Texas a&m

Sorry guys I'm typing this on my phone at school:p so please forgive me for any typing errors.

Also I'm planning to major in computer science or electrical engineering or math

Thanks

bump

Stanford - very, very, very tough
Columbia - decent shot
Princeton - very tough
Yale - tough
Upenn - tough
Brown - solid shot
Uchicago - very tough
Rice - solid shot
Ut Austin - in
SMU - most likely in
Texas a&m - in for sure

Being asian, unfortunately, does not help you. If you’re applying ED to any of these schools it drastically improves your chances.

Eastern Asian is NOT URM.

However, you being a QB finalist will be quite helpful.

Reaches: Stanford, Uchicago and Ivies.
Match: Rice and SMU and A&M.
Make sure to put a safety that offers good amount of merit scholarhips like U of Alabama.

Thanks for the responses!!

What would you guys say as my strengths/weaknesses?

Bump

Also since I took the act on oct 25, can I send them my scores when I get them on nov 11th?

Also added national Latin exam silver medal. Not a big deal but whatever

National ap scholar

Your class rank will matter very little because it’s out of 81 kids where there are students who are ranked 10/1000. Your scores are great and so is your UW GPA but you have no weighted gpa listed and it seems your school is not well known/competitive. I agree with bhass and Paul with the matches though.

Lonely banana my school does not show weighted gpa but the class ranks ARE by weighted gpa bc the top students have the most ap classes (18,19+ ap classes)

Also my school is pretty well known. I don’t want to say the name but according to U.S. news and wash post or whatever, we’re usually are in the top 8 in the nation. I think we were #1 a few times.

Bump
