I think you’re fine.

Edit: as long as you’re actually passionate about studying at Stern, you’ll probably get in. But if that doesn’t come across, it seems more likely they’d deny you for that than your stats.

I am hesitant about my essays, and that they are not on par with the rigor they expect.

I feel like my stats are mediocre or only a little above average, and my Ecs are not that outstanding.

This is all assuming that you are regularly on a 4 point GPA scale; I didn’t see that it’s weighted to 6 pts until now. What’s your normal scale?

You are correct that if your essays do not live up to what you show in the rest of your application, it’s possible that they’ll think you’re not a good fit and throw out your application. But honestly, just connect your experiences to some courses and why NYU is the best place for you and you’ll be fine.

I highly doubt that this is true. Your stats are awesome (assuming you’re normally on a 4 pt scale) and your classes are rigorous. I guess I understand the idea that your ECs are not outstanding; there’s a lot of them and you seem to have done well, but yeah, they’re not super unique.

I’m also likely applying ED1 to Stern (haven’t decided between programs just yet). I’ll be honest – my stats are not nearly as good as yours. Quick rundown: GPA 3.74 (/4), ACT 32, AP: Psych, Physics 1-2, Stats, US/Comp Gov, Micro/Macro Econ, Lang, Env Sci. I’m still applying to Stern because I believe that my EC’s (nat’l merchandising deal, many relevant internships and leadership positions in real jobs, etc.) and LoR’s will be enough to give me a chance, but I’m still worried regardless. So I totally get where you’re coming from.
