I will PM you around spring next year when I start picking my dorm for Plattsburgh (if i get accepted) or before that if I have any questions about the school. I wish there was a larger group of Plattsburghers(?) on CC. Is there a different forum where they frequent more often?

I attend Plattsburgh.
In regards to dorms (I think you asked about this?) try your best, which may also require buttering up residence hall - not hard to do ;) - to get into Macdonough, which I find to be the nicest dorm.

I'm not sure if they still allow underclassmen in Macdonough, though.
I have pictures of my dorm room there and a few of the campus if you're interested.

Thanks, I would love to see the pictures you have.

I'm starting to have doubts about Plattsburgh but not very, its just that no one in my family has ever heard of it. =[ I have competition with cousins getting into U Miami and when I say I want to go to Plattsburgh, UMass, Rutgers there all like whats plattsburgh? Anyone else deal with that.

Most people outside of Adirondacks haven't even heard of the city Plattsburgh. I guess it's because it's such a small town and it's pretty much the last "major" city before you hit Canada.

Nonetheless, it is a good school. The classes are small and I have to say, the friendliest people I've ever met were in Plattsburgh. The campus is also very nice.

Anyway, here are some pictures. (Sorry they're blurry, I took them with my cell last winter - The weather isn't usually that dreary, I was taking pictures of a freak storm that came in which is why the pictures aren't really of the buildings or anything in particular.)

God help whoever gets my room next semester, it's still painted pink and I asked residence hall not to repaint it for some reason, I don't remember.

They let you paint your rooms for a security deposit of $15 per wall, but after someone from residence hall checks it (to make sure you didn't paint it a dark color, like black or something difficult to repaint), they give you your money back within a 1-2 weeks.

And they don't make you repaint it white at the end of the year.

TYMEL:
We have a son at UMiami (go canes!) and a son just started to look at schools. (going into senior year in HS). He wants to stay in the Northeast and while he will look at some private schools and OOS, he is going to look at SUNY's too. There are many good ones and you can get a great education at an affordable price.
Glad you added the SUNY COLLEGES and not just the popular UNIVERSITIES. It is definitely worth considering Buffalo State, Plattsburgh, Oswego, etc. By the way, I did 2 years at Oswego (then transferred due to change in major) and I got an excellent education there. Beautiful campus. Really nice mix of Long Islanders and upstaters. Traveling home is doable from Syracuse airport or the buses provided during school closures. I know some current Oswego students who are very happy there.
With your stats, I think you would be a great fit academically at most of the "colleges". I think Geneseo and New Paltz are the toughest to get into (and New Paltz is artsy so it may not be the right school for you anyway.) I think in the end you'll have some great choices. You can always apply to the SUNY universities for your "reach" schools. My guess is, with the current economy, more and more students will be applying in-state, here and elsewhere, making the whole process even more competitive than ever. Your stats are fine and I don't think you need to go the CC route.
Good luck.
