So this is my resume so to speak, I think that my recommendations will be stellar and my essays at least good, so could you chance me for Harvard, MIT, Stanford, Columbia, Yale, Princeton, Cornell and Caltech? I will chance you back if you’d like. Sorry if I am not showing much humility
So I am admittedly no expert at determining your chance to attend a school, however based on the information you gave I’d say you have a good chance at a few. However, all of the schools on your list are ivies or the equivalent, so now matter how stellar your resume is, it’s always a bit of a reach. Did you apply to any safeties? Question: what is your GPA? I won’t feel that confident in my answer without seeing that. Nice Extracurriculars!
Harvard: reach
MIT: reach
Stanford: high reach
Columbia: low reach
Yale: reach
Princeton: mid/high match (considering legacy)
Cornell: high match
Caltech: high match
I think you will be accepted to at least two. You have a great application but every application to those schools nowadays is a bit of a crapshoot. However, it didn’t stop me from applying. Good luck
Can you chance me? It’s my only post. And here is the link.
Stanford is actually a lot harder to get into than Harvard. Well not a lot, but I believe i believe it’s about a 2% acceptance rate difference and when you are in single digit acceptance rates that 2% makes a difference.
@2020hind - You seem to be in great shape, the only blip on the radar is the top 15% class rank - suggesting you have not done as well as your peers. But if you’re in a high school where people in the 10-15% are regularly getting into top schools, it may not be such a disadvantage. Have you looked at your school admission stats and talked with your school college counselor? They can far better assess your odds than anyone here can.
I would expect you to get into Princeton, unless you bomb the essays or interview, or have lackluster recommendations.
@allonsyalonso1 - I don’t agree that Stanford is harder to get into the Harvard - if you look closely at the CDS for each school, you’ll notice that attending Harvard students have higher stats then Stanford students. I suspect Stanford attracts far more long-shot applicants who have little chance than Harvard does. As a whole, for well-qualified applicants such as the OP, Stanford might even be a little easier to get into than Harvard.
I think you have a really high chance to get into any of those schools. You’re pretty well rounded — GPA, ECs, SAT etc etc. Your Princeton double legacy would help with other schools too. One of my friend has a legacy in Columbia, his ECs, GPA and everything else sucked but he still managed to be waitlisted in Cornell. He was accepted into UCB.
really badly, but he has a lot of legacy in Columbia (dad, mom, aunt, cousins). He was also on waitlist in Columbia. So I guess legacies will help you a lot.
