Chance me for Transfer from Georgia Tech

Hello all,

I’m a first year industrial engineering major at Georgia Tech who just figured out that I have no particular interest in engineering. A few months after I accepted my offer of admission, I found out a lot about myself and realized that I loved economics. I also thought I would only want to go to school in the South, but I’ve really matured a lot and realize I’d be fine going anywhere. Anyways, here are my stats:

34 ACT, no SAT.
35 English
33 Math
Reading and Science were both above 33 IIRC
I was a National Merit commended scholar in Louisiana.
Captain of Quiz Bowl Team
President, Future Business Leaders of America
Treasurer of High School Student Council
Vice President in Junior Year of High School Student Council
National Honors Society
3.85/4.00 GPA in high school.

As far as college goes, my grades are good, I’ll probably end up with anywhere between a 3.8 and a 4.0 this semester. I’m in a fraternity, a member of the Institute of Industrial Engineers, and a member of For the Kids, an organization that raises money for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. It’s not that I don’t like life on campus or I’m not successful here, it’s that I don’t think I’m interested in my major and I don’t think it can provide me the opportunities economics can.

My target schools are Vanderbilt, UPenn, Rice, UT Austin (I got into this school in HS if that matters), Duke, Northwestern, University of Virginia, and really anywhere that has a good economics program. I realize many of these are probably stretches, but I’d appreciate any advice, and if anyone knows about transfer life at these schools, that would be great too.
