Chance me for transfer to UC (UCSD, UCI, UCB, UCLA, UCR)

Hi guys,

I really want to transfer to a decent 4-year university this upcoming fall. I’ve been attending CC for almost 4 years and it is starting to get on my nerves. My first choice is UCSD/UCI, but at this point I will take what I can get.

Major: Computer Science (B.S)

I have:

  • 49 UC transferable units + 11 in progress now + will take at least 7 more in spring 2016
  • UC GPA - 3.87
  • President's award from my CC for exceptional academic achievements
  • No extra curriculum activities, other than a full-time job (does that count?);

My UC 7-course pattern progress:

  • 2 English compositions Completed 1 writing course and 1 critical thinking course.
  • 1 math course Completed full calc sequence - calc I, calc II and calc III
  • 4 courses chosen from at least two of the following areas: the arts and humanities, the social and behavioral sciences, or the physical and biological sciences Completed: 3 behavioral sciences, 2 humanities, 1 biological sciences with lab

Major preparation for UCI:

  • Complete one year of approved college level math, preferably courses in calculus equivalent to UCI's Mathematics 2A-B; if not available, two semester courses equivalent to other major-related math courses are acceptable Completed all 3 calculus classes.
  • One year of transferable computer sciences courses, involving concepts such as those found in Python, Java, C++, or other object-oriented, high-level programming language Completed 1 year of Java, will have 1 year of C++ by Spring 2016.

Major preparation for UCSD:

  • MATH 20A, MATH 20B, MATH 20C, MATH 20F Need MATH 20F (linear algebra)
  • Minimum of one programming course in Java, C, or C++. Completed 1 year of Java, will have 1 year of C++ by Spring 2016.

I TAGed to UCI, but I am not sure I can get in, so I need a backup plan.

Thank you for your responses!

I’m not super familiar with CS, but if you followed all of the TAG steps and met the requirements, you’re in.
