Okay, opinions would be awesome!

I'm caught between two schools...I really liked them both when I visited and would really like to go to either one- but, because BC is restrictive early action, I need to decide which to apply to early based on which school I have the better shot at getting in at.

STATS:

GPA- 3.8 (4.3)
All AP and honors schedule all of high school.
ACT- 31
Extra curriculars- President Middle Eastern Political Awareness club, Editor of school newspaper, 4 years Marching, Concert, Jazz band (lead trumpet)
Volunteering- work at Cleveland Clinic biomedical engineering laboratory evaluating various methods of cancer research.

Student hebrew teacher and other various positions through my synagogue.

Thoughts guys?

Buuuuuuump?? Anyone???

If Tufts acceptance rate is about 22% and BC’s is 28%, I don’t see how you can guess which one is more likely to accept you. That isn’t a huge difference; your odds aren’t great at either
You are a very good candidate but so are the majority of students applying to those schools.
I think you should decide which one you really like best based on other criteria and then do a good job of convincing that school you love it…
What do you want to study? How do you feel about sports and Greek life etc?

These are both fantastic schools. Tufts is a little more selective. I would revisit both in the fall and see what you like better. Good luck!!!

I’d just apply to the one you like best.

I’d guess your odds were better at BC since they have a higher acceptance rate. I don’t know if being Jewish would be an advantage or disadvantage at BC - do you add to diversity or do Catholics have an edge or does it make no difference?

Okay- what about chances for Tufts?

I really don’t understand these Tufts “chance me” threads. So much of the applicant’s chances hinge on non-numerical factors, namely, the essays, and especially the extra essays. Your numbers put you in the game. Now if Tufts is your first choice, you have to figure out how to make yourself stand out in the essays you write in an authentic and compelling way. Show Tufts how you will be a significant addition to the entering class. Describe a genuine passion and how you came to it. Tell them things the teacher recs, numbers, etc. can’t convey. That’s what will make the difference – not a few points on your GPA or test scores. Good luck.

Will ED help my cause at all though?

^ yes, ED will help.

Substantially? What are my ED chances?

Perhaps none at all, perhaps some. It’s a black art. But see paragraphs 3-5 of [Tufts will not release ED statistic this year - News - Tufts Daily - Tufts University](http://www.tuftsdaily.com/news/tufts-will-not-release-ed-statistic-this-year-1.589190)
