ED for Northwestern, good chance. EA for UChicago? Not good. Your academics is strong, but your award is not very distinctive. It’s limited in school mostly, higher scores is not an award. And what does a national/state qualification mean? Do you win any national medal in your country? Or international ones? If not, not very competitive.
EC is fine but mediocore. More than half who are applying to top colleges you mention have the same ECs. It seems you did a lot in MUN things, but it’s really outdated in admission officers’ eyes today. Many people doing the same thing, though it might be something ten years ago. And you didn’t win some international medel in MUN area. Again, it’s limited in school. But you do a good job about your community, that’s very good. Admission office wants to see a dedicated, socially responsible and respectful person. But still not very impressive, raising funds, marketing some outreach programs are possible missions for nearly everyone if he wants to dedicate himself in those things.
Again, ED for Northwestern is a good, maybe a good chance. I didn’t know this school very well. But EA for UChicago? That’s for HYPS level applicant, who UChicago wants very badly, even they know he’s not verly like enrolling. In your case, you simply are not. Just move on, and pray for Northwestern. Be careful for your RD college choices.
Thank you for your feedback.
Further elaborating on the extracurriculars, do you believe that a research paper that is due for publication is something common?
and to give you a further insight into the awards, the finance olympiad that I have mentioned just so happens to be one of the most competitive competitions in my country and the awards that I have mentioned are the top ranking awards one could get. The concept of national awards for school level children doesn’t really exist.
@prik22 The conclusion I made is based on the information you gave, and I don’t like to guess. And, given the new information, published research paper is good. But would you give us more details about the paper and the award? Like the name of the award which we can google it and your ranking? Or what journal or magazine you published your paper and what professor you’re working with?
You’re just giving us unclear statement and undetailed information, how could you expect us to say something you think is “right” or “accurate”? Given your information, you’re a strong applicant, and you did a great job. But if you want some answers you think will be helpful, be more detailed. And, to be honest, there’s no point to talk about UChicago chance now, for you have already submitted… You will find out soon and make some decisions.
